The Dirty Truth of Petrol & Diesel Vehicles | An 'Open Source' Animation

Raphae from PluginIndia was delighted to be part of this project along with Mark Linthicum from the GasTroll channel. Mark created these beautiful animations which shows the real truth on how Petrol and Diesel vehicles pollutes far more compared to electric vehicles.

Mark worked on the India specific animations and Raphae researched the numbers you see in this video. You can read the article and find the sources here.

We are delighted to share this with you as it is another tool to expose the truth behind vehicle pollution, as well as asking what we can all do to help combat this.

Very well put Raphae on the overall emissions. You forgot to add fracking, which is another big monster now as the oil rigs dry up across globe.

Even Gas based cooking is only 30% efficient, rest is just wasted as heat. If people move to induction based cooking (90% efficient), it will be much better.

Electric cars are going to be harder to repair. I mean the complexity will reduce a lot and combustion engines have a lot of moving parts.

So on paper electric cars are going to be much easier to repair. But, only time will tell whether the industry moves towards right to repair or they decide to act like apple, samsung etc.

I mean already (in combustion engine cars) a lot of the previously standardized parts are kind of getting more proprietary and harder to repair. Like in some cars you have to replace the entire back light assembly if your led brake light or something dies. Also infotainment systems should be less tightly integrated. Like if I change to a third party head unit, I should still be able to control my sunroof or ac like I could in the factory one.

Also since a lot of dealers make money from repairs, and electric vehicles will definitely reduce frequency of maintainence, manufacturers might want to keep all the tools and schematics to themselves so that they get all the repairs.
