I was truly wondering how I could test my grip at home 💁🏽‍♀️ I was wringing out some hand washables for laundry today and hurt my left wrist. Thank you for the informative video because it was exactly what I needed! Kudos on the theme song as well! Needed that giggle 🤭 Have an outstanding day! 💞👋🏽

Son: "Hey dad, can you show me how to make a YouTube video?"
Dad: "Sure son. Grab your scale and we'll head to the office."

Its also an indicator for survival with an optimal strength/weight ratio of 0.42 in women and 0.50 in men. This means that a man whose hand-grip strength (measured in kg) is half of the person’s body weight has the best prospect for survival.

Thanks for the video. Problem with this method is you cant uni-laterally test each hand separately. Also for the extra 10-15 bucks, I invested in a digital dynamometer which provides easy to measure, accurate and consistent results. With scales, if you place your hands even a few millimeters out, you will effect your reading.

Love your videos guys. Have a nice day!

It would be interesting to compare grip strength on the dynamometer versus the Scale.

Grip strength, along with walking gate and number of pushups are good predictors of longevity - perhaps better than BP or BMI.

From my own experience. this will measure pinch, not grip strength. The positioning on the scale (any scale) will prevent the fingers/hands to form a grip-like position but rather a pinch (which, in itself, is a known measure of a feat of strength). You can't wrap your fingers around the scale like you can with a dynamometer and/or a traditional grip strength exerciser (the upside-down "V" shape device).

I wonder what's up with my grip though. With my digital scale, with one hand I can get barely 15kg (33lbs) (32kg/70lbs with both hands pressing the scale together) which according to internet is very poor for an adult male. (I'm 35yo, 6'1, 200lbs)
Yet I can do 7-10 pullups and dead hang for 1min20sec which are above average arm/grip strength numbers... So I'm confused if my grip is bad or good? Is the digital scale the wrong thing to use for this kinda test?

I recovered from carpal tunnel syndrome about 8 years ago and my right is 30 lb weaker than my left. I lift weights but right side always gives out more.

let's talk about the exception to the rule:
Bruce Lee...
phenomenal hand strength but
died at an early age.

so instead of thinking the hand strength
longevity connection i would think
the healthiness of the hands and arms
in that they are in shape...now is there
a way to measure toe gripping strength?

bats hang from their toes so if you want
to have strong toes how would one go about it

My scale is so fat that it only measures pinching grip (badly).

The bottom of my scale has a button to check weight but I could only fit 2 fingers
