MSI announced not making amd gpus back in early 2024. I'm Not sure why this MSI story is being told like this wasnt the case. Its really strange and i feel like i had a stroke. MSI 100% announced, during rdna 3, way back in EARLY 2024 that they would stop selling AMD GPUs. I dont get now why this story is being told like MSI didnt announce this about a year ago. It was amid rdna 3 sales challenges while making some of the worst rdna3 amd gpus. I'm guessing MSI is sad they cant get in on 9070xt sales.

I was lucky to get an MSRP 9070 xt. It’s my first AMD desktop GPU and it’s been great. I’m able to run it at a -15% undervolt, -15% power limit, and a silent fan curve. I don’t notice any performance loss and it’s only pulling 250w in gaming.

The best part of it all was I was able to tune everything for the GPU directly in the AMD Adrenaline software

im not paying a dollar over MSRP. and if it takes 2 years before supply stabilizes im not paying more than 50-100$ below MSRP.

i will not be bullied into overpaying for shit. a 4 year old GPU runs modern games just fine with no issues. my 6800xt runs modern games at 4k just fine.

Let me tell my GPU story for everyone to see why this is incredibly stupid.

I work at a computer store, and we've seen part shortages everytime something new comes out. I fully expected this to be similar, but not to this scale.

I sold my 4080 Super with plans of buying a 5080. I figured that I would miss the launch, which was fine, but then a few weeks passed. And then a month.

There has not been a single listing I or any of my coworkers have found for a 5080 at or near MSRP that is not sold out. I even decided to switch to AMD once I saw the good benchmarks of the 9070 XT, and I once more missed the launch. Thankfully, I found a seller at only $140 above MSRP, but that is a lucky break.

My point is: literal teams of people checking the internet for these GPUs cannot find any stock. These are people who are experienced with finding and ordering parts, even during shortages.

Every 2 years I say wake me up when there's GPUs that aren't trash for the price they're actually at in-store. It's going on a decade now with nothing meeting that criteria yet.
