But I feel it could benefit from having a male character or two.

I like that the game has the characters it has... (They may appeal to many, just not me).
I feel it could benefit from having a male character or two.

I had two brothers...
If we played Golden Axe, we would fight over being the Dwarf...
Same if we played Secret of Mana...
Same with Mario Kart (Toad/Yoshi) and so on and so on...

You have to have those major pull characters in a character driven game.
This game... I wouldn't fight to be any of the characters... would let my Brothers pick 1st if I was back on my gaming sofa as a 12 year old me....

If the game is two player at least have two males, two females and 2 gender fluid choices...
Heck add in a robot and something else fun... Like a good monster.... Or just let people create their own characters.

if we take out hello games from the picture you cansee its just a co-op game. they will probably have the ability to select characters like overcooked. i really feel like hello games just used our anticipation as a way to bring attention on the fact they are gonna start producing for other game studios. yes it was in bad form. yes it feels like being used. we have been supportive of everything else and we would've been more hyped for it if he would have explained it that way. i do however hold out hope we will hear something after the first o f the year otherwise this may end up working against him later on. im actually really interested in seeing what studios they will have working for them and games that will have their names on them. games like this have often positive but short lives, but not a bad first step out of their comfort zone

What ever happened with "Hello Labs" i was under the impression that they were going to back games that used procedural generation. Whatever this game is, is not that.

Im interested to find out more about this game but too early to make any sort of decision until they actually share some information on gameplay

However based off the announcement trailer I feel like the timing for this game is wrong. The same night this was announced hazelight (devs behind “a way out” and “it takes two”) announced a new coop game which seems like it could be very similar to this game.

My Captain - I had not seen the trailer, so I had to go take a look at it before commenting.

I'm not sure what all the hellabalou is about. This certainly is not my type of game, but I dont see anything really out there from the trailer. It will appeal to younger players and the Twitch players. HG had produced a game sort of similar to this years ago - I forgot the name.

In any event, I think everyone is far too critical - maybe we NMS players are just too old.

If anyone ever gets to the point in their own life that they can't wear a pink tshirt in a kids video game and change it to a different color because its too feminine for them, imagine how this person gets thru life daily with every other thing on the street bothering them. Being insecure with a fake 10 year olds tshirt color is about as far down the list of importance in my life as I can get. Just by you putting w0ke in your title here, don't be surprised if youtube is going to invite these kinds people to view this video and your channel. And then you know what happens? Your comments section is going to look like CommBall fest6000 at an expedition check point. I'm not making this stuff up, I've seen it happen to tons of other you tubers.

It seems to me that the people complaining about the characters are being too judgmental. Why not just accept that these are the characters in the story? Not every game has to appeal to everyone. If the premise and gameplay appeals to you then you’ll check it out, if it’s a good game then you’ll enjoy it. If it’s not for you, that’s fine.

The way the trailer broke the fourth wall, by seeming to be self aware of the fact that they aren't YET showing us much gameplay, and how they referenced E3, etc reminded me a tad of Deadpool. I thought it was cleaver.

I think this works as a teaser. I'm assuming that more gameplay will have to come later though, it could be interesting, or nonsense. Who knows at this point.

As for this weird LGBT criticism... I mean, heaven forbid that LGBT people are allowed to exist and be in games too? Weird. If people are offended by that, I think it says more about them than about Hello Games.

ummm Captain that is Cyan and Magenta not red n blue, it could represent opposites and the effects one has on the other kinda like somthing the Valeyard would do to the Doctor in a test like in Amy's choice choose which world is the real one a puzzle and a test, it may look simple but then you see it is much bigger than it appears it does have a stranger things influence two universes entities in both realities, kinda like in Chrono cross you change something here you alter the other universe completely, id wait for the second trailer before complete judgement from me, i remember you saying something similar til you saw the second trailer for aa certain dimension travel steam punk game til you tried it the one where you put cards in any random order to open portals to that realm, you started to do gameplay on that then stopped but i do remember you liking it a lot after the second trailer, yes im still on the fence will it be a cookie cutter or something unexpected, and also they need to be more specific on character designs too but made by hand not Ai.

if HG can publish other games, they've surely have money enough! I had to install the basic game of NMS again on a PS5. when I saw how many bugs are still in the basic game (without any update, which you download and install, they've still have a lot of work with NMS left. I won't buy Light no fire if it's in the same state as NMS. It should be bug free.
And hopefully HG doesn't influence their published studios in a negative way, just to make more money or even to follow their way of developing a game. Because like myself, players won't except unfinished games for long anymore.

I tend to agree that the trailer featured characters do not draw me in, nor do they offend me. I don't think I am the target audience. If the game relies on co-op, I won't even try a free demo. I would LOVE to see Hello Games do well. I feel that NMS was a Sleeper HIT! I have much hope for LNF. A smooth launch is not required for me. They earned a LONG grace period, period.

i do see a odd Pixar look on them all or the Ardman gotta save the chickens look as in the teeth, the cloths is too much of a mid 90's skater punk style and a little raider look from cyberpunk post apocalyptic games n movies the enemies i do admit looks like tyrranoids from Ratchet n Clank up your arsenal, but all black and not green n red in Ratchet, and then there was the grown up tyrranoids they would rip you a new one if your not fast enough then they got harder when they became machines thanks to Nefarious also like the metalheads in Jak game series they start off cute n small then holy shiite run run run they constantly evolve from lil things to giant sand worms flying pterodactyls but as living metal with skull gems but i do get the phalic ref too with these small monsters.

Yeah, normally when channels use the word 'woke' in a thumbnail I give it a pass and a black mark against that channel, have watched your No Mans Sky stuff for a long time so I'll give this video a watch but if you plan to keep using that term please give the definition that you use because what you mean by it actually matters. Really not here for anyone pushing the exclusionist agenda...
(Ps. Have you never seen or met punks Captain Steve? Brightl coloured hair, multiple piercings check shirt under denim are all basic punk clothing and male punks also wear make-up if they want. Also didn't really see an issue with the young nerd coded male in the back either, he seems a very standardised caucasian male with glasses and red hair, which is what a lot of people seem to want even if they don't want to say it aloud. It looks like the game is for kids to be honest, perhaps NMS players are not the intended audience for the game?)
