The most to the point and honest video I've seen for certs in the past 2 years. Going to focus on AWS certs now. Thanks!

I agree on your points; but imo, without networks--no cybersecurity, no cloud..no sever, no virtualization nothing...so your network background should be very very strong if you are looking long term career in IT.

I was about to start a ccna class, I felt something was overkill, I already know TCP IP subnetting and the Osi model, my goal is to be a system admin.

I got my CCNA, you are right! I'm struggling to even land a Level 1 help desk role. I should've began learning IT administration and taking it one step at a time.

However the benefit is, I have a strong foundation on Networking and I can easily build off of it.

I disagree, I'm coming from a background where i have no degree. I would recommend getting the cert if you don't have any sufficent proof you are competant in networking. It makes you an easier spot out in a sea of different applicants.

It's better to know basics and how on-prem infrastructure works. So doing CCNA will help I'm saying it from experience. Azure is based on the similar principles. You are not wasting time.

Oh thank Goodness because as someone with a non techie background the introductory networking I am learning feels very foreign, which is okay because I am still learning, but I can’t see myself doing this as a career.

Just recently passed my CompTIA Cloud+. It's a very heavy exam. In my opinion, most (if not the majority) technologies are moving towards the cloud because of cost-efficiency, scalability, and elasticity. Also, I believe the best certifications to get in 2023 and moving forward are cloud and linux certifications.

Hahahahahah, what a fool. CCNA is still one of the MOST in demand certs still.

So for someone new to IT how would you recommend something pursuing a cloud engineer role. Isn’t some networking knowledge required?

Ok, I understand what you are saying. But is there other ways to break into network engineering without a formal degree?
