In my opinion, CCNA gives you a foundation in networking. And networking is the glue that holds everything together.

I knew the title was straight clickbait and yet I clicked on it anyway.

CCNA does hold value, Cloud, Cyber Security, Web developments and IT in general all require computer networking knowledge. With out a computer network modern day collaboration is not possible! People who say CCNA is useless are absolutely ignorant.

As a Cybersecurity professional networking is the foundation so having that in your toolbox just makes you more credible. Shout out to Jeremy!!!

CCNA is not needed lol. I would hate to be that guy who only knows the cloud or cyber sec and the network is down and can't figure out why. Not knowing the basics of networking is like only knowing the software that runs in your car and not all the components that make it work. you can fix the GPS but not the engine or the transmission.

I think the 1 of most important IT skills you need to learn is networking, because at some point you'll gonna implement networking on whatever IT job you are doing. Next should be hardware and then you can proceed to focus on whatever IT job you want.

Even most careers out there it may be Network Administrators, Network Security Engineers, Cloud Network Engineers, Server Administrators, and even though DevOps Engineers point of view CCNA is something that will help all across the journey.

Just curious, who's actually saying the CCNA is garbage? I've heard many in cybersecurity say that you don't need the CCNA certification, but they still suggest that you study the course material and gain the general knowledge without actually taking the certification exam, but that's a completely different topic. I haven't heard anyone say that the CCNA is garbage.

Jeremy is much wiser than me. I taught for nearly 20 years before going down the networking path.

CCNA is so important. Even in my cloud course there were a lot of students who were very confused when we got to AWS networking. This was clearly because they lacked the networking fundamentals.

great video Dean. I agree that you need good networking foundation to learn cyber security. I had one of my friend who had garbage networking knowledge and tried focussing in security. I just laugh that he configure next hop using directly connected address of the firewall interface

“I wouldn’t call them garbage” 😂
Sounds funny coming from Jeremy because he uses professional vocabulary most of the time.

I feel like I am watching a study video of his, if I close my eyes. Lol. Grateful for him, yourself, and others who still have passion for networking.

Is the CCNA really the best cert to start with? I always heard the CompTIA Network+ or A+ is the best place to start. I also thought there was a 3-year working requirement before taking the CCNA.

I mean, if you are an employer, which applicant would you choose? The one with CCNA + Cybersec or the one with only cybersec?
