Its still a valuable certification for Network engineers. Most of the companies will still have Hybrid infrastructure so there will be always demand for a datacenter Engineer.

I love when people give straight forward advice with no fluff. Thank you for your straight talk!

When seeking employment we don’t always get the CCNA to know Cisco specifically, we get CCNA because it covers so much that having it shows employers that you know network fundamentals and how to learn a network. Saying “yeah I know it” may work for some but a lot of people find it more reassuring to see “get this company that everyone has heard of says he knows it.” It’s accreditation, the CCNA is still one of the most recognized certs in the industry and still listed as one most looked at by employers. Just like a Cisco cert you’ll have to learn a company’s network anyway if you know cloud, the certs show that you know how to understand the information necessary to doing the job. We go CCNA for Ciscos credibility for certing broadly knowledgeable people, not because we always want to work on Cisco networks. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you very much for your advice you saved my money and time. I was considering ccna as a path to pass my oscp examination but now I don’t think I’m going for ccna.

Nice. I was sitting in the fence about doing the actually exam. I was of the opinion that other certs I do later on in cyber or cloud would validate my knowledge in networking anyway

I completely agree, doing ccna is a waste of time and money. If your career is focused on network engineer then its fine.

BS! - Get the cert. You will learn so much about general networking. Most people fail the CCNA so if you can pass, it shows you are a cut above. Do it and you will get a good job. Im a perfect example.

Thanks you are right, but it depends on the country where you reside

Got my az-104 and can’t get hired anywhere. The cloud certs are only useful if you have work experience. Going for my ccna next

Yes the expertise is not a trend but you must have the networking basics to learn cloud cybersecurity do not go into cybersecurity then you have to go back and learn networking

Thank you for this. I was told i should get this after my Security+... now i will focus on Cloud AWS and BTL1 certifications. Also, can you please post more content for entry level, resume boosting projects to help people changing careees to get in cybersecurity? I loved the one you posted and more content like that would be so beneficial for people like me.

Let’s be real almost anything in IT u can get a job with no certs or degree. Also entry level network engineers make 70k+ and a lot of engineers have just a CCNA so that alone is a reason to get the CCNA

Several Jobs are asking for this in 2023.

personally i am not a holder of a bachlors degree and i dont intend to, so getting a certificate like CCNA is something what will help me land a position and work my way up. your point makes lots of sense tho since im literally studying for my CCNA through online coarses for free

Do you think getting the CCNA is a good step to understand the details / fundamentals of networking? Or is it "Overkill" trapping you into a lot of brand based specifics and terminology? Your response would be highly appreciated thanks!

This certification in my college can be obtained through an online course that goes something like network academy and stuff and since it's free in my college, i see it as an absolute win!

I got a job as a Network Engineer with little networking knowledge and no cert because I was in Service Desk at the same company and worked hard, I got pretty lucky.

In a hybrid business with on-prem equipment, knowing what switches and routers are and the OSI model was helpful, but just scratched the surface and not having a more complete knowledge was been a challange.
Understanding basic or fundamental concepts that CCNA introduces has also helped when its come to learning for and understanding the cloud as we migrate across.

Maybe people dont need to take the exam if they can get a job that isnt looking for a cert, but I would still recomend people study the CCNA content. The knowledge will be beneficial.
