Here is a quick setup guide for the ASTRO A50 Wireless + Base Station Gen 4 and the PlayStation 4 Pro / Original PlayStation 4.

For anybody trying to record with the elgato:
• Go to settings > Devices > Audio Devices and put your output to TV
•Sound and Screen > Audio output settings primary output to digital out (optical) and audio format to bitstream Dolby.
If you’re having trouble with your elgato starting up restart everything and plug in Astro’s after elgato.
If you can’t hear audio in your headset or on the recording mess with the mixamp button on the right side.

When I put it to chat audio the sound is coming from my tv .

1. Laptop won't recognize the a50s so I don't know if the firmware is up to date
2. The PS4 seems to recognize this device but no sound comes through or Mic functionality
3. Why is this so difficult

What happens if I put the output to headphones on All Audio?

I have set it up exactly like this but only chat audio is coming from the headset and there is no game audio at all.

When in ps4 mode, should I have the basestation set to "Dolby" (Dolby Icon illuminated) or "Pass-through" (Star icon illuminated)?

EDIT: Contacted Astro Support. They said Dolby mode for Ps4. For PC, it depends. Ps5, remains to be determined, but probably Pass-through.

Bro if it’s set to chat audio then how tf do you hear game volume

0:49 Output to Headphones…Is wrong then you can still hear the TV sound in the background and that in turn disturbs the microphone.
So you would have to set "total audio" there then it is correct 😉

For everyone having trouble with hearing game volume and/or chat volume...
What this video doesn't show, and really should show, is that there is a game/chat balance adjuster on the outside of the right earcup. Does everyone know this?
The labels are barely recognizable without a magnifier, but if you look at the outside of the right cup, there should be the 'A50' Logo. Pressing on the right or left side here will control the balance of game/chat. (NOTE: When I mention 'Chat' I refer to being in a separate Party chat and not in game chat.) If it is adjusted all the way to chat, you won't hear game volume, and vise versa. There are tones that beep when you are maxed out one way or the other and a single tone when it is even. Changing the Setting in PS4 menu '>Output to headphones>All Audio' results in game and party chat all being controlled at the same level, with no separate balance. If you follow this video and are aware of the balance control on the outside earcup, it should work. My 1st Gen A50's worked exactly the same as my new 4th Gen set...both fine.

When choosing the primary output port and clicking on digital out the systems asks me which format the device is using Dolby Digital 5.1ch, DTS 5.1ch or AAC wich one do i chose ?

What about people that uses ps4 slims. Ever thought about them? Got excited for nothing with this product by having me spend more bucks just to get an audio converter to make it work. I'll be returning this product early morning. Wasted my time. If you have ps4 slim, don't even bother getting this product.

When i select "Chat audio " i cant hear the System/game Sound.
Only when i select whole Audio

My ps4 shows that the base station is connected, it charges fine but when i take the headset off the base station all the lights turn off besides the PS light, headset also turns off and will not turn on. Ive tried resetting, disconnecting and reconnecting every cable. Firmware is up to date, all the settings on my ps4 are right. The headset works when i connect the base station to my ps4 and connect the headset via USB cable to the ps4 so the drivers work, they wont work wirelessly. :/ i bought these the other day and i am starting to regret it.
