Here is a quick guide on how to update the A50 Wireless + Base Station Gen 4 with the ASTRO Command Center for PC or Mac.

I've had the absolute worst experience of ANY headset I've EVER owned with the Astro A50. I'm including budget ones too in this comparison, which spans back over 20 years btw. @Astro: Your software bricked my brand new A50 £280 headset within a week of ownership. That's unforgivable! I can't find the solution ANYWHERE on your website. I' so glad it happened early and I'm able to return them to Amazon, otherwise I'd be furious. Definitely not going to buy your headsets again, and will warn everyone thinking of buying premium headsets to avoid Astro like Covid-19.

Its literally 5 am and I finally figured it out!!
For everyone who is having the error message here is how it worked for me
After the error just keep clicking okay till it says try updating again-> after that it will say please put your headset on the base to continue PRESS CANCEL -> now hard rest your headset and switch your base from pc to ps4 then back to pc -> now press update and it should work fine.
This worked for me i hope it does for you too

I’ve done the same firmware update 10 times, every time I do the update it doesn’t save and I log on to see firmware update required and it’s the same update every time, so happy I spent 300 quid on a piece of plastic that now sits on my desk doing nothing👍👍👍👍

The update just stays at 0% for me. What a bummer. This is happening on both an A40TR and A50 Gen3

I didn't know I had to update firmware until my headset completely stopped working. now while trying to update my shit it fails on step 2 out of 4 every time. so glad I can't use my $300 headset :)

I downloaded the firmware but because of the terrible magnets on the base station it disconnected halfway through and now the command center isn't picking up the headset and the headset is turning on and off constantly. And yes, I have already tried a hard reset, it doesn't work.

My base is attached to my PS4 setup in a different room with USB and power plugs behind equipment. It's a real hassle to get it out. Is there a way to update my headset without the base? Can I use the mini USB on the headset itself?

The firmware update still fails. I haven’t been able to use my headset in a month and Astro hasn’t responded to my support ticket for over 3 weeks.

Uh i never updated my firmware on my astros and i just never really cared too, and i regret doing it now i liked how it sounded back then. maybe gotta mess with the comand center more but i do miss my old firmware

For the record, using the Astro Command Center app from the Windows Store never works. I can switch my Mixamp or Base Station back and forth between PC and console mode, and nothing will happen. If I download the software from the website, it works first try every single time. For the love of sweet jesus, DO NOT use the Windows Store app, unless you want to experience the utmost frustration.

Looking at these comments and Reddit, this issue of the firmware not updating is common knowledge. How have Astro not addressed this issue?

My new astro A50s wont turn off. I got them less than a month ago, but they're having issues like audio randomly cutting out for a few seconds during gameplay, and now they wont turn off

Possible solution.

I had the same problem when i downloaded the Microsoft Store version. I reset the device (holding dolby button and game button for about 10 seconds) and download the version that is on Astro's website. The firmware update now installed without issues.

So what happens when the headset refuses the firmware (11/2020) and leaves it stuck in bootloader mode making it a paperweight? I've tried everything and the ACC just refuses to update my headset, base station went just fine though. Help ASAP, this is really pissing me off
