I love middle schoolers because they are trying on a new persona every other week. It is quite amusing.

Personally, I LOVED my middle schoolers. I also understand that many can’t handle them. I believe that if you can do middle school, you can do anything! ❤

Love this guy wish I had him in middle school I do have to say I didn’t wish I was 18 for my benefit I actually wish I stayed 7 for the rest of my life because I didn’t want to grow up and when I turned 8 there was pretty bad stuff happening so there was like a huge part of me that was like I want to go back to being 7 before anything bad happens and then there was another part of me who was like I want to be old enough to take care of my brother and not have him hurt like I was. And I couldn’t do that unless I was older then 18. And had a job and stuff, but all teenagers have an age that they wish they stayed at or they wish they were for there own reasons, and I do have to say the world as a teenager was probably the longest and most lonely feeling that I’ve ever felt.

There was one teacher at school I remember, the principal was giving a speech about how teenagers need to grow up because there to emotionally damaged to be fixed, said that were “just hormonal kids who act like adults” and the teacher said “as that is true, they also are one of the generations that are facing the worst backgrounds, most of these children have seen the worst experiences that us 30, 40 years olds have experienced in our lives. And we can’t throw them in one group and call them emotional, which they are but they are individuals that have different backgrounds and experiences and are still human and have emotions. The last thing these kids need is adults telling them there to emotional, that fixes nothing, no I believe they need to sit down talk about it even if it’s not very fun, but our problem isn’t going away just by us telling these teens that there to emotionally immature and hurt to be fixed. There minds my be immature but they also have the hardship that an adult would face just under different circumstances, these kids are hurt by everyone around them and are forced to espresso themselves in any way they can while trying there best to keep an image that is forced on them, there also worried about grades and relationships and they have new responsibilities that are put on there shoulders. I don’t know if anyone can recall but a few years ago I had a 13 year old girl having a panic attack in the middle of a class because she had friendship and relationship issues and was given career choice forced on her shoulders and had to choose if she wanted to go on a travel team when she apparently already didn’t have a life outside of school because of her parents forcing her to take music lessons, this child was overworked she couldn’t think straight and this was her first panic attack and she was scared, my teacher that I shared a room with told her “your overreacting and everything would be fine, your just a kid you don’t have to worry about anything.” I noticed this didn’t make the student calm down instead it made her more stressed and made the remainder of the class agitated, I remember this was the first time in my career that I looked at a student more then just a kid, these kids were just like any adults that have problems but in there brain all there problems are multiplied because of others expectations, so I sat on the floor and told her that I had problems to, and we can talk about our problems together, I told her I’m worried about my wife and kids and how they feel and if I’ll have enough money to support them and I just listen all my problems to her, she told me some of her problems that she didn’t feel uncomfortable sharing with her classmates and it was very eye opening as each of the kids agreed they were experiencing the same problems and we had a stronger bond as a class, and as that can’t happen all the time I know that class was one of the classes that everyone walked out that day with a new perspective on how life looked through a different set of eyes and as we didn’t learn about any school subject we learned about how we each have problems and are human, some say it was unprofessional and some would agree on the things I say, but Mr. Principal to look at all kids and view them as an unrealistic expectation of a perfect child is the reason all these kids are so emotionally unstable and hurt in the first place. So as you proceeded, remember everything Ive just told you, and how you think it’s going to impact how these kids feel and respond to the words you effect on their lives, Thank you.”
All I know is this teacher helped a lot of teachers see students differently and made the students feel more at home. I do wonder how he didn’t get fired for talking to the principal like that but he was my favorite teacher of all time and he didn’t know this at the time but he saved me and my friends lives that year. If only our would wasn’t so damaged.

As a 7th graderI definitely agree with this dude. The kids in my grade (including me) are so chaotic.

YES! Seventh-graders have nowhere to look to (like 8th and graduation). They have middle fingers to the world.
