The story of Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett's 1975 masterpiece Voyage of The Acolyte. In addition to 100s of restored photos and new sound mixes, this documentary features an interview with artist Kim Poor and brings many of her wonderful paintings to life.

This is a non-commercial project made to celebrate this music and all advert money goes to the copyright holders. However, you can show your application of the effort I put into it (in my spare time) and yes, I do actually pay for the software I use!

This album has more mystique than practically any prog album ever released-- and Kim Poor came up with the perfect cover for it. And I love that the album is majority instrumental. The three singers-- Hackett, Phil Collins, and Sally Oldfield-- were perfect for their respective songs. Oldfield in particular was incandescent and just a few years later she would release a stunning debut album, Water Bearer. Both that album and Hackett's Voyage are breathtaking masterpieces from start to finish.

I bought Acolyte a week after GENESIS Trick in March, 1976.
I then saw GENESIS in April, 1976
at The Tower Theater, Upper Darby, Pa.
I stopped following GENESIS , Fully, after hearing " Misunderstanding." It was upon hearing that very unfortunate DUKE track, that STEVE HACKETT as a musical entity, subplanted Genesis.
I have seen Steve 30+ times
( 1981-2022).
A great career!

Hugely talented and ridiculously under-rated. Steve Hackett is a true musician in every sense of the word. This superb album is a testament to the man's genius.

This series is just excellent! As a fan of Genesis for almost 50 years this is a treasure trove! Love the "Tales of the unexpected" ending!

Oh yes! I discovered this album very recently (I'm only 21) and I have to say it's one of my favorite solo album so far! What a perfect time for a documentary like this!

I lived in Brazil until 1985 and owned all the early Hackett albums (Voyage, Please don't Touch, Spectral Mornings, Defector, Cured, Highly Strung, and Bay of Kings). Ms. Poor's family was involved in my High School and there was a yearly Art Show. One year (1984 or 85) I saw Steve and Kim walking across the soccer field toward the main exhibition. I was so shocked to see them that I never asked for an autograph. In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't and allowed them their personal space. He continues to put out great music!!!

Well done! This is still my favorite Hackett solo album in part because it sounds like a stoner friendly extension of Genesis which makes sense since Phil and Mike play on it. It feels very ethereal, dreamy, and magical. It makes me want to go read or watch a Lord of the Rings/Hobbit story.

While no later Hackett album ever sounded exactly like Acolyte, he always maintained this sort of medieval, magic vibe on many songs even up to present day. I like to think of Voyage of the Acolyte as a great sequel to Selling England By the Pound & a prelude album to A Trick of the Tail.

The music on this album still stands up. I've seen Steve Hackett a few times live and well remember a performance of Shadow Of The Hierophant with the mad, bad genius that is Nick Beggs hammering away on bass pedals with his fists!!

I gave it a thumbs up before I even watched it. I knew it was awesome. And indeed it was.

I saw Steve Hackett with his solo band in New Orleans in 1981. I had a collection of all my concert ticket stubs which was lost in Hurricane Katrina. I do remember that the ticket price was $6.00, the best money I ever spent.

This album still has an amazing effect on me. The dual 12 string like breakdown in Ace of Wands is so beautiful as they parallel downward. The compound chords created just stir my soul. Priestess 1 & 2 are wonderful. John's flute is spectacular. Shadow is incredible. This album came out at a particularly good time in my life, so i will always have a special place for it.

These documentaries just get better and better - the analysis and story, the interesting visuals and the isolated vocals and guitars. The best one yet and a tribute to an outstanding album!
