Lucas,
Thanks for the presentation I learned how to move the tractor while trench digging just like you. I truly enjoy working with contractors that shared their knowledge with all the newer guys. Anyone that laughs at you had to have someone teach them. You have a personality and know that we would be great neighbors.
Enjoy,
Ralph

If there was a pool room for tractor videos, this one would go right above the beer fridge. Thanks, mate, legendary tips. Cheers from Queensland, Australia.

I was a backhoe operator for a water company 15 years ago and this was one of the first things they taught. Although is not recommended on smaller farm tractors old habits are hard to break. After 5 years my mahindra 1626 still going strong.

Another Canuck here, got my BX back in 2012, went through the same thing as you, wore out the seat swivel in the process, figured it out the hard way, and I now enjoy digging ditches and trenching. Enjoy the videos, keep up the great work. Jim

Well I'm a bit late to this party Lucas! I'm behind on my content and just watched this. Thanks for the great shout out and honored to get the last spot on the seat! Loving the content. 👍😎👍

I think you just saved me a ton of time. I'm about to start a 300 ft trench with my backhoe attachment. Thanks

My gosh! You're a great teacher. Are you an educator for a living? I'm a school teacher in Canada myself, and I'm extremely impressed with the way you first hooked your clients, showed the objective quickly with that speed up clip at the beginning, and then offer step by step modelling for how to do it.

Great work. Please keep making videos like this. The internet needs it.

I added a 2x6 across the rops directly behind the seat. I no longer have to turn my seat. I just sit on the 2x6.

Good point on the back hoe info. Pointing the front tires in the direction is also good info. Nothing like digging a circle when you want to go straight. Take care and stay safe: from Petawawa, Ontario. Just up the road from "Ross on the land".

Ive done a lot of trenching on various backhoes. My fix to the tedious job of adjusting position was to buy an excavator. I really like what you've shared and I will give it a try when I dont want to track the excavator to a small trench job. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. I’ll be starting on a tractor today for the first time to dig a long trench and my biggest concern was having to swivel that seat back and forth every time I need to move it. This will be a big help.

I was just explaining to a neighbor what a pain it is to constantly move the seat and tractor trying to dig a trench. Another problem with driving it to the next spot is trying to judge how far. I usually end up a bit too far away to continue the trench where it left off. This method solves that too. The arm will only push you as far as it will reach. I intend to master this technique! Thanks for the great info!! BTW, if you've ever got stuck for whatever reason, this is an option to consider to pull or push yourself a few feet and get out of trouble.

Excelent Tips Lucas! I am pleased to say that I used all of these methods while digging my waterline trench!
There was no way I was going to get off every 5 feet and do the dance to move the bx23s forward!
Great Channel shoutouts too!
Thanks for posting and have a great week!

Thank you for posting this video! This very well may be the best tip video I have come across yet! I just wish you had posted it a year and a half ago when I first got my BX.
