In this video I will show you how to plant potatoes so that there is a large potato harvest. Growing an early potato crop is very simple because the earth warms up faster and moisture is perfectly retained. The potato harvest will be great if you follow the rules that I tell you about in the video.

Don't use this method. Plant them deep and once the plant appears keep covering them with more dirt. You'll get more full size potatoes than you can use.

I grow big potatoes 🥔 Yukons every year. I have never used straw because
1. Don't want to encourage rodents
2. It's very windy where I live very windy
3. More work more money
My potatoes are pretty clean but the dirt keeps them longer. I do not wash tell I eat.

Cut a potato for each eye it has, and let it dry/scar. Plant one foot apart, in rows one foot apart. The no dig method doesn’t work well in many areas, but it’s good for clay soil where it gets compacted when dry, otherwise it’s just more work and more expensive.
Use hot compost (high in nitrogen) or use soil correctors. You can literally use all your pee on your potatoes if You’re ao inclined. A small layer of whatever weeds you have around will be free to gather and hold a bit of moisture. Dig up grass flip upside down and place over potatoes a few days later. Stop watering them for the last month. Cut up the foliage to feed livestock if you have any, but leave the main stalk in place so you know where there’s a potato plant when digging them up. One fell swoop of your hoe half a foot away from your plant you won’t cut any potatoes, pull and gather potatoes. Continue.

Cut into sections, let them dry for a day then plant. More pieces, more potatoes 🥔

I've tried this the straw has a tendency to hold lots of water so water less often or water lightly or you'll end up with rotten potatoes

I never did it like that I just got a tiller and cut them and flashes eyes up and just when I thought they had died I started digging and they were everywhere what a blessing.

For your information, potatoes only produce from the tuber upwards. You have to keep on adding soil as the plant grows until the plant flowers. Only then should it he harvested. You will more than double your yield using this method, guaranteed.🙂

I've been trying to grow cooked potatoes with butter but the butter doesn't grow well. Great video I will try and I did subscribe. Thanks.

I was appalled at the price of seed potatoes at the nursery. $8.99 a pound? I bought ten pounds of organic potatoes at the grocery store for less than that. Now I've got enough potatoes growing for two families.

Cut your potatoes in half double your yield cut three times triple your yield. As long as you have an eye or sprout on each part of the potato it will grow.

You don't have to plant the whole tater. You only need to plant the eyes on the tater. You can get plenty of eyes off of one tater just think of all the taters you can grow if you cut all the eyes off and plant them. I grow new potatoes every year

The potatoes seem pretty close together IMO. The leafy sprouts spread so widely for me that this would be way too close and both inhibit growth as well as encourage disease.

Stop!! Cut each with 1 eye each piece then plant

Two to three feet deep. Then as the plant emerges cover around it with dirt. As it continues to grow keep covering around it with dirt. A friend did it with tires. He put a tire around the plant and covered around it with dirt. As it grew he kept adding tires and soil. Eventually he had a stand of 10 tires and harvested over two hundred large baking potatoes.

Grow them in a barrel so much easier to harvest and large yields.
