Since the department of education has been formed in the seventies, we went from number 1 to 24 in the world. It's a failed institution.

The federal government has neither the constitutional authority nor the general duty to run our public education system. Rather, it is the states (per that very same Constitution), in conjunction with the parents and educators who live within their respective borders, that must by rights assume the responsibility to provide our children with the means to be good, productive, and responsible citizens of this nation.

After 33 years in public education and viewing firsthand the “dumbing down” of Americans….I celebrate the abolishment of the department of education…let’s finally get academic excellence back as the number one goal!!!

Look at the national statistics in US education. It's been a consistent downward spiral of pathetic results spanning decades. The status quo, i.e. the Department of Education, is simply not working. Send the money to the states and fund the teachers on the ground doing the actual work. Stop funding the bureaucrats thousands of miles away in DC. We MUST do something different.

Then maybe our education system can be put back on track. Then hopefully our children can get a better education

They need to get those activists out of the classrooms and put actual teachers in there....

The Department of Education was not created until 1979. Thomas Jefferson warned against a centrally controlled public education system. “Thomas Jefferson strongly believed that public education should not be controlled by the federal government, warning that centralized control
of education could lead to tyranny and a loss of local autonomy, advocating instead for local communities to manage their own schools and education systems; this view is reflected in his "Bill for the More General Diffusion of Knowledge" where he emphasized the importance of an educated citizenry but under local governance.” AI overview
