Maturing a Pond Filter, How I started up the Nexus 320 how long before it started working, K media.

This is how I started the filter maturing process, this is what worked for me, your own experiences and varying factors may differ but hopefully this can be of help to some.

Just a thought on the shared filtration if you get to the stage where you’re putting different batches of fry from different places in the tanks whatever is in one tank will be in all of them e.g flukes. Might be worth pulling ball valves on the bottom drains and returns for each tank so they can be isolated if need be for treatments etc

Great job on the nexus info.. I need to replace my k1 next season.. I will shut down my Nexus in a couple months.. My k1 is pretty dark.. I clean mine every 2 days..

Ya that crap eating bacteria smells...but I have seen them use big containers in fish farms

Siporax is amazing in my opinion, I’ve got some koi fry coming, would you suggest adding salt to my fry setup to help the fry settle in/reduce the effects of nitrite.

My fry filter is got loads of siporax and bio home for biological (running 2 weeks, added dr tims ammonia to get the cycle started. And it’s already showing full cycle and producing nitrate. I’ve used “nite out 2” live nitrifying bacteria, would you suggest adding more bacteria? (Still got little ammonia and high nitrite and little nitrate) plan to water change to make sure parameters are good before fry go in (5 days time) will I add more bacteria or?

What size airpump are you using on Nexus I have the Nexus 200 and I've put K+ in the easy chamber about 30lts and I've got about 100lts of normal k1 and about 40lts of K+ in outer chamber
