New Jersey - The US Explained

New Jersey. Despite being the fourth smallest state in the union, it is home to nearly 9 million people. While not having a single city whose city limits contain more than 300,000 people, it is the most densely populated state in the US, even more so than far smaller states like Rhode Island and Delaware. And with much of its land divided between two major urban areas, it still manages to contain some very sparsely populated regions. New Jersey, one of the most diverse states in the US, is the third place I will cover in this 56 part series on every state, territory, and federal district in the United States.

Fun Fact: No one born and raised in NJ call it "Joisey". No one.

I’m from NJ and it always surprises me that there’s almost 10 million people within an hour or two drive of me, yet so many areas still feel so sparse and isolated

Legend has it, there's a Czechoslovakian interior decorator still wandering the Pine Barrens to this day...

He pronounced all the names of the towns and waterways like he is from here. The BEST summary of NJ I have ever seen.

This was great! People who aren’t from NJ seemingly tend not to know how insanely diverse its people and regions are. How many places can you find beaches, mountains, farmland, multiple big cities, sprawling suburbs, expansive wilderness, massive industrial operations, historical sites, recreational areas, and so much more within an hour drive? You did such a great job of showing that NJ can’t be generalized, and I think that’s the thing most people from here have a hard time explaining and wish everyone else could see. NJ has its flaws like any other place, but it you like options and convenience, there’s honestly no place like it. Thank you for the truly informed video.

I live in the pines, it is truly nothing like the areas near the cities, you did a really good job separating all the different aspects of NJ

Fun fact, you can see both the Philadelphia skyline and the New York city skyline from the top of the King da ka rollercoaster in the Six flags park in the middle of NJ.

As a Jerseyite, this is a pretty excellent overview. NJ takes a lot of grief, but those who live here know it's a pretty great place to be all things considered.

In the central part of NJ is a city called Perth Amboy, is where the first Black American voted. Thomas Mundy Peterson... March 31st, 1870 when he cast his vote.

NJ is the Diner capitol of the world. More 24-hour diners here than anywhere else.
Also, Jon Bon Jovi and the Pinelands are awesome!!

You did a fantastic job explaining the state. I moved from Arkansas to New Jersey 4 years ago and I am so happy with that decision. I love this state.
