10 Places in New Jersey You Should NEVER Move To

Wow! There are SO many bad areas in New Jersey!

New Jersey. The garbage state...I mean Garden State. Sure, it has beaches, waterfalls and easy access to both New York City and Philadelphia, but let’s face it, New Jersey has a bad reputation. It’s known for its overflowing landfills, public corruption and high taxes. And while there are some great places to live in New Jersey, you won’t see them on this list. The places we’re about to discuss help give New Jersey its nickname as the “Armpit of America.”

We’ve looked at a wide range of data, including crime rates, unemployment rates, poverty, education and more. Plus, we took into account YOUR opinion - that’s right - you New Jerseyans have a lot to say about which places in your states are great and which are not so great. Sadly, while New Jersey is home to the great Frank Sinatra, he’s not singing Newark, Newark. Let’s begin, shall we?

If Lindenwold and Vineland make the list but Trenton doesn’t then you know this is a bullshit list.

NJ doesn't hate Staten Island, we just hate the bridge tolls it costs to get there

I feel like you can do a video like this for every state. I was born and raised in NYC. Lived there for 35 years and moved to NJ both are fine it just depends where you live or where you are going.

Newark, Trenton, Camden, Atlantic City etc are the bad areas of New Jersey. But the rest of Jersey is quite nice. Overly expensive but still nice.

He made a mistake in the first few seconds reffering to NJ as NY. That would piss off both states.

Once you get away from the bad areas, most of New Jersey is quite nice. Middle class suburbs, farmland in the south. High education levels. The rudeness thing is an exaggerated stereotype.

As someone who used to live in New Jersey, I feel like Trenton should’ve been somewhere in this list

I was born and raised in the city of Paterson, Now Jersey and even though it was densely populated I found it to be a extremely diverse and I wouldn't change where I am from for millions of dollars...

New Jersey is one of only a few states in the country, where you can pay off your house, and it still costs you 2k a month to live in it!

I would think almost every state has its beauty and its “beasts.”

Thank you for posting this. Hopefully it will keep NY A-holes from moving here. :)

The biggest problem for Lindenwold and surroundings communities is that, in the 70s when the train between Lindenwold and Philadelphia, is that developers sold crooked politicians on the idea that Lindenwold could be a "bedroom community" and Philly office workers were going to snap up apartments and condos and Lindenwold could be a gold mine. Instead it's become a mold mine.

Anyone calling NJ "the armpit of America" hasn't been through the Midwest.

I've always thought it was a sin that when you fly into Newark Airport, all you see is the crappy part of NJ - the shipyards, etc. However, head out west on Route 78 and NJ becomes quite beautiful. You'd be amazed at the woods and rivers and hills

Vineland should not be on this list. It’s huge and has some areas to stay away from but a lot of it is beautiful. Trenton should be on this list.

Glad Camden made it to the list. It’s actually not THAT horrible when it comes to violence (outside of school), there aren’t really anymore gun fights or too much robbing anymore since Covid happened, but it is still very dirty and not fun at all. I grew up here and I’m still living here unfortunately, that will definitely change once I’m an adult.

Vineland: (I-talian accent) “It would be a terrible shame if an accident were to occur to your beautiful bowling alley.”

Whew. I thought for sure you were going to say Pemberton Township. I grew up there in Slumbury I mean Sunbury Village. Wasn’t bad in the 80’s when I lived there. I hear it’s gotten so much worse. It’s sad to see all the garbage! I’ve lived in Springfield Oregon for 30 years now. It’s starting to get bad also. All the people moving up from California!!

I was born and raised in Passaic NJ. It wasn't always bad and definitely was always on the poor spectrum. As a kid speaking for myself. I always thought of Monroe st, Market Street, 3rd & 4th st as little Puerto Rico. Sadly as I got older, the town got completely out of hand with drugs, prostitution, homelessness & gang culture. I left in late 2013 and moved to Missouri. I visited last year 2021 and everything was different when I came back to visit. Almost unrecognizable as all businesses either moved, changed, or simply doesn't exist anymore.
