JustAnswer Customer: both arms on my dishwasher do not rotate
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Just to clarify, what's the make and model of your dishwasher?
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: And have you run a diagnostic test cycle?
JustAnswer Customer: it is an asko D5436
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
JustAnswer Customer: not sure.
JustAnswer Customer: depends on the fault.
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?
JustAnswer Customer: I have done all the checks as described in the operating manual and have had no luck.
JustAnswer Customer: Water pumps in and out of the machine ok although there is still water left in the dishwasher at the end of the cycle
Dino: service engineer: Hi Once its filled with water do you hear the wash motor kick in at the bottom?
Dino: service engineer: If not then do you hear a slight humming noise coming from the bottom?
Dino: service engineer: Regards
JustAnswer Customer: Water comes out of the arms and sounds like wash motor is working
Dino: service engineer: Ok if water is coming out of the arms but there not turning then its either blocked spray arms or a weak wash motor not pumping enough water in there to get the arms spinning.
Dino: service engineer: First thing to do is remove the spray arms and make sure all the holes in there are fully clear as if any are blocked it knocks the balance out of the arm and stops it spinning.
Dino: service engineer: But if the arms are all clear and they are still not spinning then its something to do with the wash motor.
Dino: service engineer: Its either the motor itself or the capacitor.
Dino: service engineer: This is a small cylinder bolted to the side of the motor as this gives the motor to the boost to start washing.
Dino: service engineer: So you could try and replace this first but if that doesn't cure it then its possibley a faulty wash motor here causing the issue.
JustAnswer Customer: I have unblocked the arms twice as holes at the ends were blocked but I have noticed at the end of the wash cycle there is water still in the dish washer under the coarse and fine filter.
JustAnswer Customer: Is this normal?
JustAnswer Customer: Also could gunk get to the wash motor and cause the same problem?
Dino: service engineer: Water under the filter is normal as it doesn't always full clear it as it will leave water in the bottom so that will be fine.
Dino: service engineer: As to gunk then yes this can build up in there so if you can it may be worth running a cleaner through the dishwasher and see how it goes from there.
JustAnswer Customer: Have used a cleaner twice but no luck ( dish washer cleaner only not descaler ).
Dino: service engineer: If you have tried that then there shouldn't be gunk in there.
Dino: service engineer: So its possibley either a faulty wash motor or a faulty capacitor for the motor im afraid.
JustAnswer Customer: Can I get at the wash motor from inside the machine?
JustAnswer Customer: I can get to the impeller and turn it but it is a little stiff.
JustAnswer Customer: Is it meant to spin freely?
Dino: service engineer: Im afraid not as its all access from under the appliance as that's were all the workings are, Sorry.
JustAnswer Customer: I thought as much but was hoping there was an easier way.
JustAnswer Customer: Thanks for the help, very much appreciated
