Calculus is a tool for pushing maths to the limit. The results are pretty amazing.
Find out how to use calculus to approach infinity.

Philosopher Luc de Branbandère guides us through the history of mathematics, from Egyptians measuring with the Sun to modern algorithms for self-driving cars.

nice but incomplete insight into limits and importance of calculus is totally missed
overall it is a great series

this explanation of the series 1/2^n reminded me of the Zeno paradox, but according to that paradox you never reach the destination point, and you do reach the limit in the series

its an impressive explanation of mathematics, ,,,but does it match with the titel "Why is calculas important" ?

Very good explanation for why we study limits and what results we are getting from it.
But it's underrated 😢😢

:0, I actually search for this, so it's important to push something to its limit, in a given condition?
Why the limit is 1, not 10 or it doesn't matter? Is that mean we need a pattern(following certain logic) to understand things like the series mentioned in this video? Is chaos mean anything in mathematic, what I mean is, no pattern? Or is it really chaos? Or it's just not practical to solve the questions we wish to know so we found some patterns and apply them to the things we may well-known at this time?

What is the use of calculus in computer science

You absolutely proved though that we do not need it. Yes it is good to make these assumptions but need it? not really. The 1/2 + 1/4 +... etc is a good example of how this could be used in a visualization, but it still fails to explain to us why we needed this information on our daily lives. Calculus is for those that want to do theory in math. Is calculus important... of course it is, but do the absolute vast majority of people even need it or bother with it... nope! And that is the thing about why is it shoved down our throats even in universities when we try to study something that we will never need calculus once we get our diploma.

It’s not practical to teach this to the masses. I don’t need to have a profound understanding nuclear physics. Nor do I need to understand calculus. This is true of 99.9999% of the world.

Education of the masses could be much better served with a realignment of our education priorities.

I still can't remotely believe that 0 is such an unacceptable answer in calculus, and simple fractions being so extremely unnecessarily difficult to figure out with this factoring and limit bullshit

Why calculus is important in information technology??

Another example, of people who have nothing to do, than to invent problems to fill their time with imaginary issues, no one faces or cares about, and to make it a big thing which is important for others to waste also their time doing the same. It's the same, one day I remember getting out my bed on the left foot, and wondering why I didn't get out with the right foot, why I decided to go the kitchen first instead of the living room, and I'm making fascinating discoveries on why one day which is less sunny, I walked to the same room and took the double of my footsteps, and other day I did the same but half the steps, top of that, wasting student's time with useless hypothesis and conditions, like indoctrinating this nonsense to others, like religions do.

Calculus is only relevant to students of engineering and physics. However, statistics is more important and it's used in just about every branch of science, sociology, economics, business, etc.. The average person does not care about limits, derivatives, integration and so on. However statistics has a more practical use to the general populace in their every day life.
