The Hat will never be wrong since it sorts students based on traits the student values, not traits they have. A student can value bravery or cunning or whatever and not have an ounce of it themselves. For example, Crabbe and Goyle, they’re in Slytherin but are never shown to be ambitious or cunning or have any other Slytherin trait except for maybe fraternity.

i think that the houses require unspoken rules. For slytherin and gryffindor, I think desire is a big part of choosing - hence why so many evil wizards end up in slytherin and so many arrogant bastards end up in Gryffindor

Of course! I could name a dozen characters that should have been sorted into a different house. I will just name one though snape in Gryffindor. Man literally lied to the face of the dark lord. The one I dont agree on is Peter pettigrew. He is half gryffindor half sytheren. He also lied to the dark lord but since he is a "villan" unlike snape he gets backlash 🙄. Overall yeah lots of characters should have been sorted into differnt houses. This took so long to make and now my right hand is tired so I ending it see ya ❤❤❤❤❤

Peter pettigrew - Ravenclaw Reason - if he was in slytherin he would of never become friends with James then he wouldn’t of betrayed him, he is not loyal, he isn’t a Griffindor, and he kinda was a little bit smart in obeying the dark lord… but still.

Severes Snape - Gryffindor Reason - He was one of the bravest men Harry ever knew

Gilderoy Lockheart - Slytherin Reason - Used forgetting spells as Fraud to become famous

Cedric Diggory - Gryffindor Reason - He wasn’t loyal to the triwizard cup so died, but doing so made him brave

Snape Gryffindor Snape lies to the dark lord’s face so many times and stuck to his promises that he would do anything to protect lily and dies Harry even says that he is the bravest man ever

Harry described Snape as the bravest man he ever knew. Bravery is one of the main traits Gryffindors possess which is why that would've been a better house. Snape literally risked his life lying to the Dark Lord's face and never cared about getting caught.

Cedric's bravery of putting his name into the Goblet of Fire proves how he would've fit in Gryffindor. He even went through the three tasks with little to no fear. His last act was perhaps the bravest as he was ready to protect Harry and himself from the graveyeard threat and this ultimately led to his heroic death.

Harry could've gotten sorted into Slytherin but ended up in Gryffindor because he refused.

Peter Pettigrew doesn't possess any Gryffindor traits as he always seeks protection by those who are stronger. He's also very cunning and resourceful which is why he'd fit in Slytherin.
