Biceps not growing? A common bicep curl mistake that may be slowing your gains is performing bicep curls through a partical range of motion, specifically the top half of the movement. However, research shows that training a muscle to it's most stretched position leads to significantly more muscle growth. So when performing curls, be sure to include the bottom half.

I had been wondering for almost a year after starting why my biceps were getting stronger, but not bigger. Our chaplain at work actually corrected me on this, and while I had to lower my weight by about 10lbs, my biceps have started blowing tf up the last few months. It definitely makes a difference.

This is true for the most part. Calfs don't work this way. For Calfs, start from full extension and move until you are level. Don't fully contract.

I only do prescher curls and chin ups, those are the only excercises that actually do something for me. Normal dumbell curls dont work at all for me, they actually reversed my progress, they made me loose a bit of size.

I've recently started only doing the top portion because when i use full range, i dont feel it in my biceps no matter how i change the form

I only have 15 lb weights, first few months I couldn’t move them, after awhile I got stronger

Yeah it is important but with any tension so i would choose to youse cables

But the the bottom portion of the lift dosent have any tension on your biceps.
