3 BEGINNER Workout Mistakes You Should Avoid!

When we’re first starting out with a new training routine, first getting into exercise or even starting out after injury, it can be so hard to know exactly where to start and how hard to push.

We often also are super motivated and end up pushing too hard too fast.

We have to remember that the most important key to getting started and truly creating a routine is CONSISTENCY.

And that means building a strong foundation and focusing on sustainable habits we can repeat week after week!

That’s why I want to share these 3 common training mistakes I see when someone is first starting out and what you can do to avoid them!

Can you do a video on the basic body weight exercises, like the ones demonstrated in the video. I saw the modified ab exercise and I was like DUH, how come I NEVER thought of doing something like this

Thank you Cori for insisting on the basics. This is a very nice instructional video that I will refer to often when training. Kiwi will be delighted.

Thank you for clear explanations as always, and for talking about what matters.
And as always: it is a delight to see Kiwi, as usual showing us how she keeps in great shape too! 😊

I have a hard time listening to my body...until it’s too late and I’m injured! Thank you for reminding me that I MUST maintain the foundational exercises, and for helping me dial back the intensity in favor of consistency!

Thank you Cora, I am recovering from surgery and wanted to carefully plan reintroducing my fitness plan. Glad I watched your video first.

Really good information, I think people forget the mind-body connection when training or exercising and it is crucial to getting the most out of a workout.

Indeed. Slow and steady wins the race. If you choose the latter, and go wild, Snap City. You will not see the gym for awhile. Worst case scenario, it may squash the desire to train.
PS: I love that puppy.

I’ve got hypermobility and poor proprioception. I started incorporating a pilates for hypermobility program right before I powerlift and it’s really helping me develop better mind/muscle connection. When I tell people this they usually ignore me or roll their eyes, but you’re doing so many moves in this video that I do as my “pilates warm up.” Was nice to see this... I guess I’m not crazy.

Man Cori I needed to hear this! In June I re-tore my meniscus which set me down for a couple of weeks. I did what I could but it wasn’t near as much. I started to get back into it but my knee was a tad limited. And I had knee replacement surgery in mid August. After eight weeks of rehab I’m starting to slowly get back into things. I cannot do things I was just doing a few months ago

The core issue is 10 minute abs, 7 days to a 6pack, learn your first muscle up in a week, etc. Those types of video and content that is 90% of the content out there gets people to try fitness then fail miserable and quit. Similar to diet content. Thankfully with your channel and a few select other that provide good, viable information this will change soon. Having said that it is also down to the individual, their goal and work ethic. Most look for 10 minute fixes and when those don't work they go back to whatever they were doing before.

I try to change people habits but my reach is tiny so thank you for posing this and all your other videos on a regular basis.

Hi there, I just discovered your channel, I love your energy and straightforward manner. Could you do a video for training after ankle injury? My husband is a runner and is also building up his fitness after hernia surgery. He tried running again but after 3 runs (2 days of rest in between) he has aggravated an old ankle tendon injury. I know he likes to push himself too hard sometimes and so some tips and excercises to help with that would be great! Thanks!

I concur 😁... I ended up having a very tight hip flexor few years ago by not warming up my glutes and I tore something in the front. My sartorius muscle was twitching and I could not walk for 3 days. Of course the IT band was hurting too. Am ok now but I do not run as much. Just turned 48 and doing other routines at the gym. Love your videos - thanks so much.
