College where he focuses on student empowerment and leadership. At some point we all experience the fear of judgement. Chris’s talk explores the many ways fear causes us to hold back, how this impacts group performance, and specific strategies to build trust and create open, collaborative, and high performing teams.

I just love the passion, clarity and insights that Chris shares, drawing on his own experiences and a diverse range of research including that of the big boys, such as Google, to present the same findings: that the most successful teams, no matter what they did, created psychological safety - it was perceived a safe environment to risk 'out there' ideas, ask questions, reveal of judgement, fear of punishment was removed and instead an atmosphere of affirmation, celebration and acknowledgement created. He calls on us to draw on our courage to step up, speak out and contribute; to take the lead, giving others the confidence then to speak with integrity. Superb job, Chris Strouthopoulos, thankyou.

I've been in more than one class, where the teacher asks if there are any questions. Finally, one hand slowly goes up. The student doesn't understand something, then almost the entire class chimes in that they don't understand it either. Sometimes it just takes one person to take that first step.
