Genshin Impact Beginner's Guide in 4 Minutes - The Basics, Tips, Tricks

Genshin Impact is a free-to-play title for PC, console, and mobile. It's an action RPG game developed by miHoYo, also known for Honkai Impact 3rd. The developers have mentioned Zelda: Breath of the Wild as an inspiration for the game so you'll see similarities if you're familiar. In today's video we will go over everything you need to know to get started in the game.

In Genshin Impact you will collect characters and fill a party of 4. It's grounded in an elemental system so you're encouraged to mix elements and character types together to make a balanced party. Each character has an elemental ability and an ultimate ability that will charge up as they fight. Thus your typical encounter will entail hot swapping between characters mid combat to mix up their effects and abilities. Note that most buffs & abilities persist when you swap characters. Starting to see how cool this can get?

Characters besides your main character, who can change elements, will be one element and the elements in the game have lots of combinations. For example, using a Water type to apply Wet status and then hititing that target with an Ice type will Freeze them. To learn what combinations there are look for an Elemental Reaction chart online. I've linked some above to get you started. The movement includes gliding, climbing, and swimming which is a blast.

Genshin Impact is also a Gacha game. But what is Gacha? Gacha started in Japan first as a toy collecting phenomenon where you'd collect capsule toys from vending machines, and each time you collect a toy it would be different. This was later expanded on primarily by mobile games to encourage collecting many characters and it does exactly that.

In Gacha games, having one superpowered character is rather useless. Instead you want to power up all your characters equally as it is the strength of your party that matters. You'll collect characters by Wishing which is just a loot system. Typically you want to save for the 10 wish bundles for max benefit. You'll earn weapons, artifacts, and characters. Earning duplicates gives you valuable currencies. You will upgrade each of these to their level cap and then be asked to ascend them to unlock a higher level cap.

Artifacts are character-wide and have gear set bonuses when you equip multiple of the same kind. Characters will further be enhanced by Constellations and Talents. Constellations are unlocked as you wish more character duplicates and they add powerful modifiers. Ascending your characters unlocks Talents which modify your characters abilities and passives in powerful ways.

As you travel the open world of Genshin Impact, you will find loads of cooking materials. Locate a cooking cauldron with a lit fire underneath to begin cooking. Cooked foods will be able to heal, revive, and buff your characters but note that characters can get full and will refuse food if you overfeed them. You'll encounter many puzzles that require specific elements to overcome, like burning away vines. This again encourages you to keep varied parties but you can swap them at any time if you need a specific element.

Your overall Adventurer Rank will increase over time and you can power yourself up by giving Oculus items to Statues of the Seven strewn about the world. Oculus look like this and I recommend hunting these down anytime you see them. Each elemental statue has a different Oculus to collect.

The game is played Solo until Adventure Rank 16 when you unlock Co-Op. You'll grind your way through daily quests, story campaigns, world events and dungeons to climb to the top.

1:42 just a quick heads up if your a f2p player is extremely misleading and false info NEVER upgrade all characters equally instead focus on one character and use the others to support the main character the reason is that if ur f2p u will not have enough resources to equally upgrade all characters and when that happens none of your characters will be overpowered and u will find it really difficult later on

1:41 Is entirely misleading as what you just said is completely false. You want to focus on one or two characters and let the others get "hand-me-downs" or else you're gonna run out of materials. It is stronger to make one or two the main ones you focus on.

TIP: You can use dodge to cancel animations, such as 4rd hit of greatsword / bow / skills and you can use alt +1, 2, 3 or 4 to instantly cast that characters ultimate and change to it.

For me Wind, Geo, Fire, and Electric character combo is the perfect thing unless and you can replace geo with ice any time if you're doing a dungeon that needs ice 👌
Fire to ignite enemies, wind to spread the fire to other enemies, electric to overcharge them. Or just use electric when they're in water. Geo for geo enemies obviously.

Other thing I noticed is wind enemies are weak to electricity. Either I was dumb and missed it before or it isn't well known.

Tip: Unlock razor (34 starglitter in paimon shop or use wish system) then equip him with 2-piece berserker and sojourner sets for massive damage output
