The key to learning a language is to take a lot of small steps and to be consistent. It's also important to have reasonable expectations and not to compare yourself to other speakers. If you're just starting out and already trying to "sound like a native", you will most likely lose confidence and motivation. Make a record of your progress and feel good about how far you have come. Language is a tool for communication and not a science.

One thing to remember: Be patient with your progression, not everyone learns a language at the same pace, and most important, enjoy the experience!

I am native Arabic, know Turkish and English, while I am trying to study Persian and Norwegian at the same time. You are totally right on the huge similarities between Turkish and Persian.
Actually Arabic, Persian and Turkish have well amounts of common words. However be aware of the same words different meaning, they are the hardest.
Love from Türkiye 🇹🇷

Thank you for talking about your struggles, Zoe! With all the polyglots and Youtube and their "magical" methods it's easy to forget that learning languages is a neverending hard work with its ups and downs, and to get discouraged when one doesn't make progress very quickly or has difficulties. It really helps to see that others are struggling too and that those difficulties can and will be overcome with hard work :) Thank you and have a lovely day!

As a Korean/English/Japanese speaker, I really understand that learning languages at the same time require discipline. Currently I am learning more languages but sometimes I still struggle finding the motivation to study. I like that you always give us tips that are realistic and help us to keep on track!
Keep up the good work 👍

I have been learning Spanish for about two years and English for about a year. I'd like to start learning French, but I think, maybe, I should focus on improving my English before. I have been spending a lot of time on studying English because I listen a lot every day. It is so hard for me. But your videos inspire me to do better, thanks.

Actually when you can speak French, English is easier to learn. And when you can speak both English and French, Spanish is easier to learn.
If you can speak Spanish, Italian and Portuguese become easier.

Proud of you gurl❤️‍🔥
Persian is my mother tongue and I’ve been studying English recently. When I realized I may have been forced to study German simultaneously, I really got nervous. Watching your video made me think that I can give it a try. Thanks 🥹
You can talk to me if you needed native Persian speaker btw haha.

As someone who grew up with multiple languages and cultures, understanding more than one language is a bit of a norm for me, but I do really want to be fluent in all of them. I natively speak English, speak a fair amount of Portuguese, and understand a lot of Persain. French and Arabic are also on my list to learn the basics of some day, and your videos truly inspire to keep at it and not give up, so thank you for that! :)

I've been watching a lot of your videos but this one was definitely the most helpful. I'm currently in Japan but it has been very challenging to find time to maintain my Spanish while I prioritise Japanese. Thank you for the tips.

it requires lots of time and effort, of course, you must be disciplined, I have been learning French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Japanese for some year, the biggest challenge is you have to do the same thing day after day😀

I speak Portuguese as the official language of the country and I speak English as foreign language I learned a bit at a particular English school and also speak Shangaan as my native language. So I speak three languages so far. Now I need Spanish. I am learning it online from my WhatsApp friends who speak Spanish and I also use YouTube, but sometimes I lazy to carry on with Spanish, because of the occupations. I have been busy.

Hey Zoe! I'm currently learning Mandarin Chinese and I'm very passionate about it. At the moment, I can form sentences, however, it comes with many pauses as I collect my ideas. My question is, how much time does it take for you to start "thinking" in your target language?

I’m 19 years old. From elementary school, I always fancied the idea of learning Spanish, but always waited for a mentor to do so. Last April, by entering university and seeing how different the environment is, I finally decided to take matters into my own hands, and started teaching it myself!
Thing is, that after just a year of learning Spanish, I met foreigners from other countries and before I knew it, I had started learning languages from left to right. However, as you know and pointed out, this is a significantly bad idea, because you start mixing the languages with one another. I was so excited at first, but quickly got overwhelmed, and decided to take a step back and stick to only 2 languages for the time being (Spanish and Norwegian). That way I can organise my time better as well.
Mostly everyone told me that learning multiple languages at once is impossible, but watching your content has majorly helped me to keep going, no matter what the other said!
So thank you for everything you’re doing, for advising and inspiring us to become the best version of ourselves!
Lots of love from Greece! 🇬🇷💕
