Florida 10-year-old arrested for threatening mass shooting at school

Deputies on Florida’s west coast made an arrest after a school shooting threat was made.

Maybe like 20 years ago, I would argue that he's just a child, give him some slack. But with all the mass/school shootings happening, people can't take the risk. It's up to the parents to raise their child appropriately, otherwise all threats will be treated seriously.

Proud of the kid or kids that reported those text messages. It’s not always easy cause society will make you seem like a punk for speaking up, but imagine if they had not said anything and this boy found a way to carry out his text

Whether he was serious about his threats or not, action must be taken, and he should get the phycological help he needs. Every threat should be treated as such. I pray he receives help 🙏

That's how this kid and everyone else should be treated if threatening. It's not a joke and people should be punished for just mentioning such a thing. Good job FL police God bless you and protect all of us from insane people threatening our safety.

This used to be a non-issue. Until young kids began carrying out these massacres. Now every threat MUST be stopped at the root. Even if they're 10. We've witnessed the consequences of ignoring these signs.

Parents need to take more responsibility for their kids actions! Whenever my kid got into trouble my wife and I corrected him.

As a parent of a kid almost his age, and due to recent events I have to agree with this measures, at that age "fear" of being arrested over that might make kids realize that in real life this is serious, not a video game.

That’s exactly how it should be done and extremely televised so that people who think this way immediately stop thinking this way. Or get caught sooner I’m OK with that too. No reason to be threatening the school.

At my kid's school this year there have been so many gun threats, and it makes me sad and angry everytime I get that phone call or email.
On two separate occasions at my oldest's school, a gun was found on campus with the second incident resulting in the gun being found already IN the school 😳
I'm glad that the threat was taken seriously and that nobody got hurt, I just really wish that this wasn't becoming more frequent 😞
