Despite a TikTok warning from Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno, three teens, ages 13, 14 and 15, in his Florida jurisdiction were arrested this week for allegedly making threats of violence against their schools or specific groups of people at school. Authorities praised the bravery of the students who reported the alleged threats and encouraged parents to talk to their children about the severe nature of making any kind of threat, even as a joke.

Kudos to the kids who reported this awful behavior. It takes guts to do.

This is the right way to go. Accountability for their actions irrespective of age.

Regardless of age, a threat is a threat. Especially how crazy society is these days. Awesome work officers!!!!

This is how things need to be handle! Kids wanna act "silly" and act grown. Treat em like adults, and discipline them. Actions have consequences!!! No more slaps on the wrist

Parents need to be held accountable for their children's actions too!

It’s scary when things like this happen, you never know if it’s real or not

Finally someone willing to take these kind of issues seriously and hold these people accountable. I remember multiple kids at my high school making bomb threats just to get out of class or a test. That was right after 9/11

For too long, we've been letting kids have leniency, and little to no consequences for bad behavior. Now they're getting cockier and more brazen, _and_ this is part of why they do a lot of these stupid things. I'm glad to see kids being arrested for this. Hopefully the police doesn't just give them ice cream, a pat on the head, and send them on their way. I would hate to see their lives running for this because of it being a tick tock challenge, but it does need some real discipline, and they need to let other children know this is what's going to happen if they don't stop being eStupid.

this is great that they’re taking the measures but it’s also sad when you realize how common it is that we have to do these kind of things

This is a very big step up, this trend is so ridiculous I can’t believe anyone would actually joke about this

Even if the threats were fake, I'd like to know what goes through the heads of some of these teens that make them think that it would be a good idea to fake a serious threat. A threat that could potentially end with casualties. This is something that law enforcement takes very seriously.

Yet another example of “You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.”

Even as a kid I never joked about shooting up my school or making a bomb threat! This behavior is not funny! Actions have consequences!

Thank you police and to the kids who reported it. The message needs to be loud and clear for the consequences.

I never understood how anyone benefits by making threats. Words that sends you to prison for a very long long time. What did you accomplished by it??🤔

I applaud the police for their quick response. The officer stated it perfectly. We can not only be reactive, but we must also be proactive and get ahead of the threats. Kudos to the students who were brave enough to report it. 👏🏼👏🏼

Weird how a generation thats sensitive about every kind of joke would make that kind of joke or threat and think it wouldn't be taken seriously
