This is bad advice.
If an employer hears this, they basically hear "please give me more work to do with no extra money but dangle a 'promised' raise over my head to keep me compliance"

Him "If you ask your employer for a raise, they will only answer yes or no"
Me "that's the point!"
Him "no, see what you wanna do is give your employer the opportunity to exploit you. If you give them the ultimatum then they can't take advantage of you."
Me "i am failing to see a downside.'
Him "damn woke snowflake! Going around trying to earn a livable wage in an economy thats constantly living the goal post. Why can't all just let employers take advantage of you?"
