I had it for 10 years. Limped every morning. I took up a martial art that required me to kick while spinning on my feet alot and it went away. I no longer limp in morning.

Can you please drop citations to the research you talk about? You can't just say "new research says this" without giving us a change to read that same literature and make our own conclusions.

Swapped to wide toe box shoes... Planter pain under big toe is more common but I'm hoping it's because its a new and will strengthen over time.

Keep educating us on proper shoes and foot form. I’m always interested in how to be a smarter athlete

I had it from running on too much concrete, in my teens and very early 20s. Had big cushy shoes, custom orthotics, etc. I am now in my mid 40s and I can't imagine going bk to my regular shoes; I absolutely love my minimalist shoes

I suffered from it for about 2 years until I started wearing elastic foot bands that supported my arch and helped compress the sore spot on my heel. Within 4 months, I stopped having that pain, and now, 2 years later I don't require any foot bands or special shoes.

Pretty much the only honest video I could find on a patient’s experience with treatment. All the others are promoting a doctor’s business. Thank you for this and I hope things get better for you. One day at a time.

The best way to fix this is to walk barefoot. Don’t even use a wide shoe box, just walk outside barefooted. I’m an Indian national and before I moved to the US, I used to play soccer and run barefoot. The ground sometimes would be filled with gravel, thorns, uneven surfaces, and sharp rocks. I switched to Basketball because soccer players are too soft here and they’re not even that good. Eventually the soles of my feet became soft and my toes started looking like they’re naturally trying to curl in. I’m assuming that this is because of basketball shoes. I also started rolling my ankles more.

I’ve always worn crocs so I’m pretty lucky :) I now always get family members saying my toes are weird for being able to naturally spread while theirs are all crooked

I've been spreading my toes while I walk barefooted to correct this mistake. It's been helping my balance, comfort and the foot pain isn't as often.

They called me a madman for using extra large shoes...

I've dealt with this stuff on and off for over 10 years.
-Barefoot sand workouts are the best for fixing your feet. Playing beach volleyball or soccer for example.
-Place a resistance band between your big toes to pull them toward each other and do squats, calf raises, tibialis raises, etc.

In my experience, wearing tighter shoes actually helped heal my plantar fasciitis. Last football season I got cleats that were big and very loose on me. Within a week I had terrible pain on the plantar fascia (specifically after practice). As soon as I changed to tight cleats, pain gradually got better and now I have almost no pain this season! Remember, the causes varies with each person!

I always have said, crocs are the best heavyweight footwear you could wear, flexible, doesn’t put much pressure on any of the major points, whilst being large and spacious

I briefly had that issue after running on the treadmill in softer shoes that were well past their lifespan. lol
What helped was ibuprofen, stretches, really cushiony shoes and slowing down a little.
