IF YOU ARE BEING INDUCED, DON’T DO THESE 5 THINGS! Inducing labor is sometimes a necessary part of a mama’s birth story, but before an induction, you need to know these 5 things that I’m sharing about in this video and make sure you’re NOT doing them before your labor induction. If you’re on the fence and asking yourself, “Should I get induced?” watching this video might help you answer that question or feel confident about how to find the answer to that question.

Labor and delivery and having a baby is a BIG DEAL and it will be an event that sticks with you for the rest of your life. You should feel confident as you are preparing for labor and knowing how they induce labor, what is labor like with an induction, and what to know about an induction can help you feel confident and prepare for birth in a positive and productive way. With an induction side effects - both positive and negative, are present. If you are giving birth soon and facing a cytotec, cervidil, or pitocin induction or even uncertain about a membrane sweep, you can watch the rest of the INDUCTION SERIES about how to induce labor, how is labor induced for a hospital birth, and what to do for an induction as well as what to know.

I watched your videos during my pregnancy. My son will be 2 months on Saturday and I must say I tried everything lol. Every way they say can help induce at home did absolutely nothing. Waiting it out was the only way. Water broke at home at 39+1 labor only lasted 30 minutes and I pushed for 10 seconds. No tears, no complications, no pain afterwards, no stitches. Was walking around immediately after. Went down to preprgnancy weight immediately. Im happy I did as much research and breathing practices as I could. Nurses kept saying they couldn't believe it was my first kid. A lot of it I give thanks to you for your videos. 💙 edit: My nurses were amazing. They caught my baby lol, doctor was too slow. They were friendly, made me feel comfortable, helped my husband get over the fear of holding him, my husband doesn't like blood and stuff but they had him in there so comfortable he helped pull him out, the nurses took a bunch of pictures of us and him cutting the cord it was a fantastic experience. I made sure to tell them what I needed and they were happy to do it.

My sister had a traumatic experience in the hospital…unnecessary intervention after intervention cascading into a c-section for an otherwise perfect pregnancy and healthy mom and baby! But my sister hadn’t done her research and was just “trusting” that the hospital would take care of everything…she was traumatized by her experience and we are praying for her physical and emotional recovery.

Cliff notes:
1. Be informed
2. If not a medical necessity, don't feel pressured to do it
3. Voice concerns, advocate for yourself
4. Don't worry about stepping on care providers' toes. This is YOUR EXPERIENCE.
5. Create game plan (birth preferences) ; be flexible

My Ob wanted to induce me at 37+0 weeks, because I have cholestasis. However, my bile acid levels are *barely* over the normal threshold. It took some research on my part, but I learned that the stillbirth rate for me was barely higher than for normal pregnancies (about 1/8 of a percent). I talked it through with my Ob, and we decided to induce at 39+0 weeks, unless my bile acid levels substantially increase or there are other indications of fetal distress, before then.

For reference, for those who don't know, *severe* cholestasis can increase the chances of stillbirth (from sudden heart failure) by anywhere from ten- to thirty-fold, so the disease itself is nothing to sneeze at.

I was induced Thursday morning, 24 hour peasary! Told I was dilated 2cm and ready for water breaks.. all Friday waited in the queue.. they checked me Saturday 2am to say they made a mistake I’m only 1cm so I had the 6 hour gel and then 6 jour tablet. I got contractions on and off - like period pains!!! Might of been a bit worse so they gave me paracetamol and a liquid to drink. I then slept the night..Sunday night broke my waters and I gave birth in less than 3 hours… the pains were unbearable as the gas and air I felt were not working… but overall the waiting around in hospital was more depressing than the induction.. I was in hospital 6 days.. but glad the labour was fast!! My gas and air was through a mask which is why it didn’t work effectively.. before it was through a pipe!!

I'm in my 29th week and was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I noticed many gd patients end up induced. Do you have any videos on gestational diabetes and labor?

First time mom here, I am currently 39 weeks and 5 days pregnant and I am scheduled to get induced on my due date, July 31st when I’ll make 40 weeks. My doctor said this is best because my blood pressures keeps climbing and honestly it’s what I want as well but I’m trying my best not to panic because I don’t know truly what to expect. I hope my body takes well to the medicine and that everything turns out fine.

What is frustrating to me, is the legalities surround inductions. In my state, the cut off date is 42 weeks. Once you hit that mark, you have to go into the hospital to be induced. I'm working with my midwives to avoid this, but am currently 41+1 days and not really having a whole lot of signs of labor. These laws make it feel like we have to rush and like the decision to induce is ultimately not our own.

Could you please make a video on how to deliver OP (posterior) babies comfortably. I am 38 weeks and this baby has decided to stay posterior despite all the recommended exercises that I have tried :( I am just going to accept it and hoping for an easy birth and not breaking my back in the process!
Thanks so much
Love your videos!

I just had the WORST hospital induction experience yesterday. And all for no reason.

Didn’t even need to be induced and my cervix would not open. They tried to put the pill inside me, twice. Nothing worked. Then my “lovely” nurse took her fingers and scraped the inside of me for whatever reason- inside and behind my closed cervix which caused me to gush blood and scream in pain, and sob hysterically. My husband and I were then discharged and told “come back Monday” ...

I am traumatized already. I feel so upset

Got induced yesterday and I'm still in the hospital, it's the worst experience of my life, even with epidural nothing is easy. My cervix is still not opening up even 1cm with 3 medications since I'm here. Doctors are trying to insert the balloon process to open my cervix with no progress at all. Just extreme pain. Please please please don't go for this process unless it's extremely urgent and necessary. I'm going through hell and I don't want anyone to go through it. Please consider your opinions.

Huge thank you! My little girl is 4 months now and your videos were so helpful!! I had an empowered induced labour with an epidural! It wasn't what I had planned but it was still empowering! I highly recommend midwife care! My midwife was a huge part of how well my labor went❤

Being induced on Saturday week 37 due to hypertension and large baby! Terrified and anxious, but glad they are doing this since he’s already 8 pounds.
