Ukraine crisis: Will US-Russia talks stop war?

"Frank and substantive", according to the Americans, "open and useful", according to the Russians, after further talks today over Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov dismissed warnings of a possible Russian invasion.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned of a "swift, severe" response if they did, but said the two countries were now on a "clearer path" to understanding each other's concerns.

At least both sides have agreed to keep talking.

Russia has been trying to place many troops close to the Ukrainian border since late last year. NATO countries fear a Russian invasion. The United States fears that a war between Russia and Ukraine will endanger Russia's gas supply to Europe. That is why the US government is in talks with international energy companies about the supply of extra gas to Europe.
About a third of the gas used in the European Union comes from Russia. In addition, part of the pipelines between Europe and Russia runs through Ukraine.
Recently, several Western leaders have expressed support for Ukraine and warned the Kremlin of the consequences of a raid.
Tensions between Russia and the United States and other Western countries have been running high due to the conflict in Ukraine. A civil war has been raging in the east of the country since 2014.

How do we know, that 'soldiers' training near the Russia/Ukraine boarder are not separatists under training? It would easier for Russia infiltrate Ukraine with troops disguised as separatists coupled with recently trained separatists to start a series of armed conflicts within Ukraine without moving its regular solders across the boarder and maintaining they don't want a war.

I'm starting to wonder if the whole thing of putting 100 000 soldiers at the border is just a way for Russia to gain attention. Haven't seen Sergey this happy since 2014. Russia can once again feel validated and heard. It's kinda sad when you think about it...

Here's a fair deal. If you want to start a war, you must agree to do so after I died, because I am unwilling to witness such idiocy. Failure to hold up this agreement, which is unanimously agreed upon on me saying so, will lead to the instigators declassification as human and automatic irreversible re-classification to sub-human, forfeiting any humans rights and value of life and dignity. Which no one has the right to be offended about, as the status would be self-inflicted. Also, Taiwan is a country. Deal with it.

Foreign aid is there since 2014, Canadians and british officers are training the Ukranian army, and now they are ready for the comeback. NATO needs urgently another enemy to justify its whole existance.
