Wow does this bring back memories. When I was a little one my grandpa would take me every day during the summer carp and cat fishing using this same recipe. Always had a good time fishing all day with grandpa and then to the old drive in A&W for a rootbeer float and burger. Think I'll have to make up a batch in honor of him, miss him. Thanks willcfish.

I made a similar carp bait 45 years ago. Using Strawberry jello, Corn meal, And corn starch. Mix it up and cook it in a pan on low heat. Stir it until its hot and thickened.
Then remove it from the pan and put the bait in tin foil. Then put it in the refrigerator over night. When its cold the bait will stay on the hook longer. We used to catch carp all day long with this bait. They couldn't leave it alone. A little sticky on the fingers but it finger licking good too.

This is great, ive always used just water and flour with gatorade/lemonade powder. I rig up pretty much the same way. Once you cast its just a waiting game. I've found to make it last a bit longer i put it in the fridge.

I seem to catch a lot more carp when I use molasses rather than Jell-O, and a lot more catfish when I use Jell-O rather than molasses. Carp seem to love anything sweet. I've caught several very large carp by squeezing a chunk of a Three Musketeer bar around the hook.

Yes, it is definitely safe. I should think that your other flavors are worth a try but I would use the sweeter flavors as a first choice.

You're Welcome. I know what you mean about those memories. My Dad taught me how to make this when I was young. Dad would make us hot milk with crackers in it just before we went out hunting or fishing if it was cold out. Good Memories!!

Last year I caught a Channel Catfish over 35 lbs on this recipe exactly. I made mine a little stiffer. But it works and works well.
