Kent, you have brought a tear to this old set of eyes. This is a desert that my late mother knew was my favorite throughout my childhood. And virtually every time, after I grew up and while she could, if she knew I was on the way to my parents place, she would make it for me, awaiting my arrival with my wife and kids. Thanks for this recipe, but she passed her recipe to me WAY before she passed. It is close to yours in "almost" all particulars, particularly the requirement for the "Nilla" vanilla wafers. And I will stay true to hers, but yours is definitely a close second, in my mind. HEY! It's my mom's recipe! Thanks for happy tears.

Never thought I’d be watching Kent dancing to Synthwave lol, but my eclectic musical tastes aside I wanted to say thanks y’all. I’m 23 now, it’s been 13 years since my paternal grandmother passed and only 4 since my grandfather passed but y’all’s food always reminds me of them. Probably because we’re Okies through and through same as you. But this takes me back to Sunday’s and holidays when I was just 6-7. Everybody laughing and loving on each other, eating the best food cooked on earth, and celebrating the Lords love for us.

We don’t get to do much of that anymore, and a few of my aunts and uncles always want to fight us over money that doesn’t exist. But these bring me back to a simpler time, when there wasn’t anything to fight over, aside from who ate the last piece of pie.

This is the same recipe I use, but I love your idea of mashing a ripe naner in with the pudding! Love your cooking!

Mr. Kent, You have taken my back 70 years to a farm in S. E. Kansas when my granny would make nanner pudding, cooling it with ice chips from the ice box. Thanks for the memories. Keep up the good work.

I grew up on nanner puddin ( yep thats what we call it here in Appalachia ). My mom would make a bowl of it for just about every Sunday dinner.
It was the most common desert at family dinners, get togethers and reunions. Its still the desert I go for at such occasions if there is any present.

What a prefect idea for a hot day. We used to make root beer on days like that a special memory for me. Especially when the root beer got a bite to it after a week or so. My tea drinking family never got it figured out why I guess, lol. Thank you, take care and God bless.

My grandmother made this too, and oddly I woke up this morning thinking about it. And now here it's today's video. It is a sign. I'm making it this weekend.

Kent you are a treasure. You bring back memories and smiles. My mom was not much of a cook, but thank God the neighbor moms were. I’ve got to make your recipe 🍌. Thanks again

I am another one who had a tear in my eyes remembering back when my grandmama made banana puddin'. She was the best cook. My sister-in-law is pretty close but my grandmama could cook like it was going out of style. She made the best banana pudding, blackberry cobbler and apple pie. All from scratch. Thank you.

This take me back 40 years when i was a young Marine stationed in South Carolina in the late 70's. Not only did i have to learn/translate the southern drawl but had to eat like a southerner too. Grits was new to me and so was bbq, sweet tea and 'naner had that before and it was good back then. i've seen you add a shot or 2 of whiskey in some things you make. you ever try soaking or dizzling the bananas in rum? mighty good stuff! as always thanks for what you do and as a veteran i appreciate you and your beautiful wife very much.

God bless you both and the pups too!!

Love me some nanner pudding!!! I remember years ago I used make in those big aluminum roaster pans to take to the tailgates 😋

As always I am so happy to see you and the doggies. Instant pudding would allow you to make this dish in areas that would not be possible otherwise. The 70’s were all about instant pudding, cool whip and canned fruit, women would get little recipes when they watched their stories everyday. But I’ve come a long way and I would rather make pastry cream than take a short cut. There’s a after taste to that boxed stuff. Best wishes to you,
Jen
