I made this Paula Deen Recipe for my Church on more than one Sunday to serve to the Congregation after The Sermon was finished to have with Coffee, Tea, Juice or Water. When I joined the Church I explained that I bake Memories! Memories of your Grandmother’s Kitchen with the fresh cake, cookie, pie or dessert which held a special memory of their loved one. Something they put their love into and you felt it was just for you they took that time to prepare it. So, I told them to write down what they wanted and I would do my best to bring that memory back to life for them! I only used the highest quality ingredients and prayed over them and whatever they had requested and asked God to lite that memory shine once more to bring joy to their hearts. I personally loved this recipe and it is rather easy to prepare. It is worth every penny to make as well. I made Transparent Pies, Lady Baltimore Cake, Pineapple upside Cake, quince cake, trifle, tarts and ice box cakes to name a few. You see the majority of the congregation were Senior’s and some single and I knew they wouldn’t buy a whole cake and at the time stores hadn’t started selling single servings and at a crazy high price. So after everyone was served seconds were offered-and those that stayed longer was asked if they would like to rake some home or I would drop it off
For shut ins. I rarely tasted my one treats. But the gathering it brought forth allowed me to meet the members and get to know them. I hold their memories dear to my heart!
