If newey left the team mid season and they nose dived this badly, next year will be RB equivalent of the 2020 Ferrari campaign.

Seems like newey took all the team to retirement with him

Redbull without Newey has resorted to *checks notes* cutting holes in the rear wing.

It's insane how much damage some political backstabbing can do to a team as invincible as RB had appeared in the ground effect era

I think it's only going to get worse from this point onwards, Newey was the skeleton of Red Bull, if you take the skeleton out, the entire body becomes a blob, and that is what is happening now.

No matter how big a role Newey has in the success of their ground effect cars, it’s still very very bad management and respect for a long term employee to discredit him for all his work. Don’t forget he is highly competitive, so maybe the real monster is made in Newey going to another team now to say “you called me a background character?, hold my beer”. Watch out RBR, you are cutting down the branch you are sitting on. 🔥

really seems like their whole vibe is fucked

If you’re gonna lose Marshal to McLaren you have to keep Newey. I think Marshal has shown what he did for Red Bull, by transforming the rear grip & front geometry of the McLaren in 2024. Its put them over the top as Red Bull try to project manage their way out of a cul-de-sac.

Very underrated on the affect Newey had at that team. Still isn’t spoken enough. Extremely vital now days when the gap is so small and the details are ever so important

The Constructor's Championship is definitely going to McLaren but I think Verstappen will still win the Driver's Championship. McLaren seems to have forgotten how to fight for championships (can't blame them, their last Constructor's Championship win was a year before Norris was born and their last Driver's Championship win was 2 years after Kimi Antonelli was born) and Norris keeps fumbling while Piastri keeps improving.

It is wild though how Red Bull went from having the most dominant season ever in F1 history to becoming a midfield team the next season.

This is great insight. Wonder why few media outlets are pointing out Newey is no longer part of design and not present at races as a potential problem for Red Bull.

1 the only team that survived Newey leaving has been McLaren, during first years of 10s theirs were the only car to consistently match Vettel's Red Bull
2 it's very funny how Ford is apparently blocked by fate to gets its hands on Newey, first Jaguar now this(Jaguar team with another name)
:3 Newey could work for Andretti at this point, either Maffei won't have the face to keep out one of the best racecar engineers of all time or he will proudly ban him too and proudly declare an F1 were no one can get too far in terms of advantage(Max's dominance is something Liberty Media tird very hard to annullate)

Braun handed RB a massive advantage with the ground effect regulations. Newey was the only designer who understood and had designed ground effect cars. Now we are seeing how huge that advantage was in reality.

Adrian should be more recognized, redbull downfall is all connected to Newey, Max said the car is shit now and the setup is wrong, its adrian effect for sure

1. Newey was already trying to leave the team before 2024. They convinced him to stay on in his previous extension.
2. Before the start of the season they said the 2024 car was a major evolution and they weren't just playing it safe.
3. McLaren and Ferrari started their seasons much stronger than 2023, and learned a lot the previous year, so their development path has been quicker/stronger.
4. When they said the reduction in aero time would cost them, the paddock claimed that the penalty wouldn't have any effect.

Them superpowers getting neutralized, I can only watch in silence

My bet would be Red Bull are trying to push the concept in a direction it simply won't go and without Newey being there to put the brakes on when needed, they've fallen down a rabbit hole that other teams have already dug themselves out of.

I remember how dominant Williams was and then they weren't so none of this surprises me. Of course Adrian is not the only great engineer in the world but by definition, the top guys are a minority and he is likely the the best of the best right now.

In trying to make a car that both drivers can drive, they have succeeded. They’ve also made a midfield car that has already lost the WCC and risks losing an easy WDC.
