Red Bull’s 2024 Formula 1 campaign has plunged to a new low. This is no longer a team having a difficult spell, but one that’s in a full-blown crisis with a troubled car Max Verstappen has labelled a “monster”.

Only the fourth-fastest team in qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, even the brilliance of Verstappen could only get Red Bull to a frustrated sixth in the race. Team principal Christian Horner admitted the situation is not only concerning, but also confusing.

And though there may finally be light at the end of the tunnel, seeing it and reaching it are very different - and Red Bull doesn’t know how long that will take.

Don't know what's more surprising: Red Bull dropping the ball or Ferrari out-strategising everyone else.

The funny thing is that the only thing saving Red Bull now is McLaren themselves

Redbulls current situation reminds me of the state of Mercedes early in the season, car that just doesn’t want to play ball and is a ‘monster’ for the drivers to handle, just shows how quickly the tides can change in this sport

It’s fascinating how after years of development and progression during a regulation window, the margins for improvement at the cutting edge can be so razor thin that attempts to introduce upgrades can throw off the entire performance balance of a car.

It's funny that the big reason red bull was so quick out of the gate with these regs was because Newey pushed them to chase ride compliance and stability over peak downforce, and now their chase for peak downforce in his stead has led to these issues. They basically pulled a 2022 Mercedes

Horner man underselling Newey’s value a few months back is the funniest part off all this. What a 🤡

one thing i have reacted to is that although Ferrari have struggled alot with their car since that upgrade in spain its still very impressive that they are only 39 points behind redbull in the constructors and i feel that is down to their superb driverlineup charles and carlos have been super consistent bringing in points

2:02; How could they have NOT come to Monza with a special rear It almost seems like they thought "Oh, well Max won here the last two years, so we win whatever way we want to do it".

Red Bull completely ignored Perez’s slump in the performance in the last 8 races bcoz of the fundamental car issue. They thought that it was Perez who was underperforming rather than the car itself. Max usually could make a bad car seem like a good car, until it is completely undrivable. They should’ve focused on improving the car based on Perez liking and Max would’ve squeezed the maximum out of it regardless. This phenomenon of car performance cloaking by Max was identified many years, which Red Bull didn’t learn from the past experience

Fix your damn car! Toto has heard it before.

Rob Marshal would be my call. Without him and Newey there’s no-one with enough hands-on knowledge & kudos to tell the spreadsheet wonks where they’re going wrong. In ignoring Verstappen’s rants for months they’ve group-thought their way to disaster.

with the maestro leaving, I won't expect a quick fix to be found anytime soon 🙏🏼

Looks like the ego maniacs at RB that said they were as good as Newey are eating humble pie

Once Jos Verstappen started his in team war that divided the RBR cohesiveness into two sides, Newey wanted out! This hurt car development and here is where RBR is at now, behind McLaren, Mercedes and in some ways Ferrari. Horner is no angel, but Jos and Helmet are the enemy from within that created the divide that turned into chaos!

Wache and co thought they knew better and didn't listen to Newey when he expressed concerns over certain design choices. They kicked the man to the kerb and now it's coming back to bite them.

Red Bull needs to go to a flexi front wing too. Merc and McLaren are killing it with that wing.

Fortunately McLaren are determined to give Verstappen the Drivers Championship by screwing Norris. Genius.

The RB20 is walking the path as the SF71H, but in a more dramatic way.
