Always appreciate your coverage of Scale, thank you for the clear and concise overview of the update!

Glad someone thought to list nfs and smb usage connections/logs. I never even considered that as something to have, since I have less than a dozen machines in my homelab currently, but I can see how that could be valuable in an enterprise scenario when planning an outage or building DR plans. Cudos!

I think I'm moving to Scale as soon as this release is out, I have been holding off with my main TrueNAS CORE working so well. The usability seems to have come a long way.

I installed Dragonfish beta on my new system for about a month. Been running a few vms but its mainly a ubuntu plex server and network share. So far so good, no issues.

It's now time for me to migrate to Scale. Can't wait for the stable release!

This is timely, I'm almost done rebuilding my proxmox server with one goal being getting used to scale, will definitely throw this on there once I'm finished building it.

Those new share status screens really do look great! Just yesterday I was contemplating restarting my SMB services and started wondering what all was connected.

I just implemented the cache changes as described in your earlier videos last night, lol. Thanks for the videos.

I won't be switching until true Nas scale is proven to beat core when it comes to iscsi and dedup.

About time they got dynamic ARC scaling working, that's only been on the board since.... well forever, and longer off the board if you count the "wtf why doesn't the ARC use all my memory" forum posts.

making new smb datasets is so good. feels very smooth

I just wish they would develop a way to seamlessly expand a storage pool similarly to some of the commercial turnkey NAS devices where you can do things like purchase 1 drive and just add it into the NAS, and it will just expand the pool to include it. This would be better for home users who may just want to have a basic setup with 2 drive redundancy and just be able to toss in an extra drive once in a while when there is a good sale on hard drives.

Not sure if it wasnt mentioned before, but it will support SMB encryption then?

I am surprised iX Systems have not partnered with a mainboard manufacturer to introduce hardware for the 1/2/4/5 drive NAS market to compete against turnkey NAS units as an entry level solution for SOHO / micro businesses.

Great video. I'll be installing SCALE once I set up my new Proxmox cluster. I've been all CORE up to this point.

Do you think you'll do a separate video at some point focusing on the dual dataset/share setup? I'm so used to the multi-step process to create the users/create the dataset/define the permissions/set up the share in CORE that I kind of boggled at that point of the video. Like, excellent news, but I am confused how it can go that quickly. :P

Many thanks for doing this - I'm disappointed that the SMB changes are not genuinely those of ease of use. Creating a share in Truenas Scale remains clumsy, having to edit the very poorly laid out dataset ACLs rather than SMB access. I appreciate that's related to the Linux file permissions but the current config, even to create a guest share is a muddle.

Only issue I’ve got is I’m trying to use ai and a k80. The baked in drivers don’t support the k80 anymore and it’s a total faff to roll them back….
