So excited for this one. The Emira looks incredible.

The 2GR 3.5 V6 from Toyota is the reason this car is worth it. It’s an amazing powertrain very reliable and they do sound great. One of the best engines out there especially V6s (as well as the Nissan VQ and Honda J-Series)

By the way Doug, I have had a deposit for once since July '21. Lotus has given us 4 delivery dates so far over the last year. I will believe I own the car when it actually shows up.

It being the Camry / Sienna V6 makes it even better.

I love that the engine is just TOYOTA so it won't break your bank if it needs repair, also they are super reliable and last forever so I don't mind it at all. It sounds fantastic so people will never guess where it comes from. Lotus does all its magic to tune it also so you're getting a great reliable engine. Oh and the fact you can see the throttle working on the top of the engine !

Throttle House did such an attractive and charming job of reviewing this car that I looked up more reviews .
D.D. just reminded me why I asked YOUTUBE to stop suggesting his channel. He really makes Screech look and sound like George Clooney.

Rivet a strap into the trunk lid interior, call it a day. Rear trunk cover is where all the sand and dust collect, touching with hand will be same as rubbing with sand paper.

What Doug is looking for at 18:00 is a Honda S2000 gearbox. Totally love that this is a Toyota platform but likewise what concerns me is the service. I go to any local auto parts store and they have just about everything I need for my S2000. Oil, brakes, fluids, gaskets and even door lock actuators. I don’t feel like hunting down Lotus parts. And im sure they will be priced at a nice premium.

Ahh, you've fallen for the Lotus sale pitch, Doug! The chassis is VERY similar to the one that underpinned the Evora. It has the same hardpoints; and you can even see it when you open the doors and look at the B post areas.
This is NOT a bad thing, because the Evora was a fantastic drive, but the marketing department want us to think its totally new: It isn't. But it is brilliant!!

The steering wheel buttons, wiper stocks, drive mode button, play/pause circle and engine start button are literally the same as in the Lynk&Co 01, another Geely model sold in Europe

I did not expect to like the sound of it so much, who knew that the camry's v6 could sound so nice

Just bought one…the Hot Wheels version.

I’m just gonna say it. Every car that looks like the Emira, the Emira is the best looking version of it. The design is so well balanced that it’s hard to tell which angle is the most seductive to look at. (Well, overhead isn’t impressive, lol)

Also, Honda should just do manual transmissions for every car from now on. Why not?

I'm slowly falling in love with this beauty and until now there was just one Lotus that I truly loved: the 1958 Elite. Not anymore

This is cooler than the new Ferrari 296... If you were to tell me they were the same price, I would believe you, if you told me the 296 was the cheaper one, I would believe you, if you were to give me either one for free, I'd take the lotus.
That tells you something. Something about lotus and even more so something about Ferrari honestly.

Bit of a weird point about the Camry engine from Doug, since Lotus has always sourced its engines from reliable big volume producers, including Rover and Toyota in the past.

Best sports car for the price. An enthusiast choice for sure. And I don’t think it’s an insult nowadays to have anything Toyota powered.

wow, you can see the engine throttle body moving when Doug is accelerating. what a view

The design is indeed gorgeous, but feels a little derivative, like it took the best parts of a ton of cars and mashed them together, the hood undercut reminds me of a Maserati, the side intake is straight out of a McLaren, the rear lights are from the Alpine A110, the rear trunk is from the NSX, the wheels also look like Alpine's. The end result is a constant reminder of the cars that you dont have instead of the car that you do have
