Hello, fellow Emira owner here. I was just reading the manual and found out that the front usb is charge only. If you want charge and data, say for carplay or android auto, you need to use any of the two usb ports in the armest storage area.

Agree with the steering wheel quirkiness. If you've had muscle memory doing a 3 point turn with a circle steering wheel, there are moments where your hand would go a certain place expecting a steering wheel there but it's not. So I've had to reprogram my brain to drive it like I'm at the track, hands at 9 and 3 position and full 180 degree turns before letting go of the wheel.

Slow speed driving is definitely pretty enjoyable with this car, especially having power like this with naturally aspirated engine-like responsiveness. Since I'm also still in my break in period, I've had to slow down and speed up when driving on the highway to vary my RPM's and I'm pretty much doing pulls from 65-80 all the time.

I hate that there's incredibly limited aftermarket for stuff like floor mats or wheels. Tried contacting tuxmat and they basically said no.

I was also at an even earlier with Greg from Greg's auto parts, one of the few places that do stock emira parts. He had a 3rd cat delete, valve controller, titanium exhaust and eventuri intake and it made for a completely different sound. Stock sounds great, but his setup was a different kind of great.

The small details are exactly what we need! People might just care about the driving if they lease one for a few months, but a different story if you decide to keep a car for years. People needed to decide if they can accept the small minor detail issues, otherwise, the ownership experience will be ruined. Very helpful video. It’s not a Porsche, it’s something special, but also a lot more to consider

I really liked how you broke this video down. I’m a driver like you; I want to be able to push a vehicle hard around town and have a bit of rawness to my car. This is why I chose a miata ND over a cayman s.

At 7:39, C’mon say “Quirks and Features!” - Doug hasn’t trademarked that (yet) lol! Love that color Blue on your Emira! Always enjoy your thoughts and channel!

I just bought this car, same color, same interior. I think the Emira is less cluttered than the Porsche. My biggest problem is the uselessness of the cup holders. You really can't shift at all with a drink in the forward-most cup holder. But I love the driving experience, the look, the sound is decent and the pedal placement really works for me.

I have the same sensor issue, I let Lotus know about it, hopefully it's a software issue and will be resolved with it.

Thank God the reason you’re enjoying it less has nothing to do with the car itself, but the roads around Vegas.

When you get it run in properly, see if you can get your hands on a GTS and take them both on a track for some lap comparisons. You’ll get a lot of views with that.

Great update. I think both layman and car enthusiasts would agree that the Emira is far better looking and special than the Cayman, but the Cayman is (looks-aside) objectively the better car.

Good video. I've had my Emira 3 months and here are the things I found that are minor annoyances/issues. Overall though, really like the car and it gets tons of attention.

1) Carplay only automatically connects half the time for me. Sometimes it does, others it doesn't.
2) No Satellite radio. Definitely should have that in a $100k car.
3) Had to get the HVAC fan resistor replaced
4) Got a check engine on the EVAP canister and replacement parts will take a couple months. Does not affect driving though
5) Floor mats are not good. They should extend further as you mention. They catch my clutch heel on some shoes I wear, so I trimmed the mat
6) I think the exhaust is pretty decent, won't change it
7) KEF audio is undersized and disappointing.
8) Wish it would stay in the driving mode I want when you start back up again.

Really appreciate the owner details beyond what you’d hear in a basic review.

I’m really curious to see how the car responds when really pushed especially at the track. Will the brakes hold up? How will the transmission respond to hurried shifts? Can it handle a 20 minute session or will it overheat and need mods? And how does all that compare with the Cayman GTS.

Thanks in advance! Appreciate your work!

Nice review. Love a car that engages you at any speed. A true driver's car.

This is a 100k+ car, all these issues shouldn’t be existent

I get the same phantom left front parking alerts on my first edition as well.
I also have full PPF so maybe that has something to do with it?
Loving mine as well.

The fact that this car is enjoyable at low speed, why you think is the case? Is a reason of chassis or steering communication? Higher perceived speeds? The ability to relax and enjoying the inputs or something else?
You described very well the reason why this car is not that more enjoyable at higher speed having a chassis that is not that playful especially regarding rotation, but I think is worth getting deeper in the aspect of fun at slow speed, is a thing and is almost never talked about. I personally dig this characteristic that add a lot to the driving experience. At the end of the day there aren’t transponders at every lights😅 (town driving)

This was really helpful. I never knew why the dash data would randomly change until you said the steering wheel controls had swipe functionality. And 100% agree with the climate control. About 5-6 degrees off. Thought it was just me. Overall, though, once you're driving, it's a revelation.

Honestly Emira is wasted in Vegas. i am in the Bay Area and just got back from Socal and a 1200 mile road trip and my Emira was spectacular. Sad that your roads are straight. Even valley of fire looks boring tbh. Hoping you get the Emira back to CA!

Thanks for the video! I've been looking at this car to get as a weekend/track car. Is there a cars and coffee meet you go to? I've gone to the one by Eastern in henderson. I'd love to check it out if you take it or more people do since I've never seen it on the road

Agree about the steering wheel, not the ppf though

Funny, you don't seem to suffer from my biggest (super minor) quibble with mine. If I put ANYTHING on the passenger seat, it triggers the seat belt sensor and starts dinging at me with a red seat warning in the cluster. And when I say anything, even an iPhone cable resting on the seat can trigger it. I see a water bottle in your passenger seat. Must be nice!
