Fantastic review of the lost standards. So many focus on Germanicus' campaign during Tiberius' reign and for Claudius' it is always about Britannia. Well done on an oft overlooked part of Claudius' reign. Love it.

Amazing summary of this era of ancient Roman history. The devastating loss by Varius was such a catastrophic man-power loss that maintaining their military world dominance was impossible. This was the beginning of the end and marked the eventual fall of the Roman Empire.
