Look at that. Not a cellphone in sight. Just people living in the moment.

When I opened my YouTube recommendation feed, I wasn't expecting the Spanish Inquisition.

It literally breaks me to think that this ACTUALLY HAPPENED to an untold number of real people...

It's hard to grasp how disgustingly evil and barbaric monsters people can be

I saw a movie scene like this when I was 20. To comfort me, my dad told me the victims were suffocated by smoke and didn't feel the burning. But now I don't belive it. Human history is a long horror story

Fun fact, the actor who is burned and tries to escape is known for mainly doing comedy, his character in the sitcom "Aida" is especially famous, it is very weird to see him in this role and also dying in such a horrible way

Same kind of crowd that screamed for Jesus to be crucified.

I didn’t think this scene would disturb me so much. It really was as if I was watching ppl face the last moments of their life surrounded by cheers of their screams.

The most disturbing element of this scene is that realistically, most of us would be cheering along with the crowd. We don't like to talk about it, but a secret little part inside most of us enjoys watching others suffer and will happily go along with it if it's socially acceptable.

It's happened everywhere - for every cause and under every banner.

Mad respect to the guy who managed to climb up the stake to avoid the flames, even if it was only for a few moments

The biggest witch hunt did not take place in Spain but in Germany. Also in part of eastern France and western part of present-day Switzerland. A historically curious geographical triangle. In German towns such as Cologne, Mainz and Wurzburg, between 1, 200 and 2, 000 people - the vast majority women, but also some men - were burned alive accused of performing rituals with the devil. In total we are talking about the murder of some 60, 000 people. You're welcome.

I don't think I'd let myself be taken alive in these circumstances. Fighting to the bitter end seems better than this fate.

The actor really acted well, made it look real and heartbreaking. I feel for those people who lost their lives so miserably and painfully😢

This is the most realistic burning scene I’ve ever seen. You can actually see every contortion, the skin scorching and bleeding as though they were really in unimaginable agony. Notice how most of the time the people are standing way too still to be believable? Almost like they can’t fathom the pain, so they can’t accurately act it out. This is viscerally real.
