After the death of Ceasar, his testament reavals that he chooses Octavian as his lawful son and heir of himself.
I am fond of history and particularly in the history of Rome and I share videos about it. Rome (2005) was one the best tv show and also some kind of documentary. I claim no rights of the videos I share

For all his brilliance, this was one of Caesar’s most farsighted and genius moves. Octavian was a literal nobody at this point but his potential was seen and with one stroke, Caesar ensured his legacy and that of Rome were secured.

Antony: "Much good may it do you."

Octavian: *Becomes Emperor*

Octavian saw it further ahead, the name is the most significant item. The name Caesar became a title and it survived until the 1st WW. Tsar and Kaiser for example.

Octavian pointing out the significance of the title over the estate in the long run and Anthony shrugging it off without thinking— perfect subtle way to characterize the difference between the two.

God, Augustus was so based.

Octavian immediately realises that he had gained what we could call equity in the name of Caesar's heir, and was able to borrow immense sums against it. Antony was too thick to realise that.

Anthony only cared about the money and lands while Octavian knew that the name holds far greater value in recruiting armies and allies, therefore much useful in a long run.

Octavius was the smartest person in the room, always thinking ahead, even at young age. No wonder he became first citizen

Nice of Anthony to congratulate Posca on his freedom.

Historically, while he did have his mistresses and affairs, I do think Caesar enjoyed his relationship with Calpurnia. She was above reproach and he did confide some things to her. She shows this through her political actions right after his death, using Caesar's wealth to fund the Caesarians under Antony and Lepidus, as well as knowingly supporting Octavian as Caesar's adopted son. They stayed up the entire night before his assassination just talking after she had a dream of his bloody body and his death. He almost canceled the Senate Meeting where he was going to be assassinated because of her dream and her worries (He was talked out of cancelling by one of the conspirators who was his friend).

I love the actor of young Octavian. He acts the high class genius part well .

The real winner in the room is Posca. Calpurnia noticed right away and thanked him ( nobody would thank a slave). Posca knowing the game stay’s employd even in that time of crisis.

As they say « When in Rome do as the Romans»

Agrippa was quite influential in Roman politics irl. He used to rule given provinces via proxy while remaining in the place he seemed surrounded by his loyal people and influence. He also worked as a bridge of "Secret Alliance " between Rome and other warrring states. Not to mention his children’s were quite active in Roman politics and many his descendants ruled Roman as Emperor.

For his loyalty Augustus irl gave a massive lavish funeral to Agrippa also saw to his Children's education and made his grandson heir to the throne of Rome 😍😍

The young Octavian in this series was my favorite character. I had the same thrill watching him master his world (and surprise the adults around him who thought he would be easy pickings) that I had in watching the young Paul Atreides do the same thing in the novel Dune.

Bosca ad-libbed the part about being freed and no one checked.

It's pretty remarkable how posterity showed that Caesar saw something in Octavian he did not see in Antony. Obviously, if Octavian had lost the civil war and Antony had emerged as emperor or dictator we would now be talking about how Caesar was wrong, and he probably wouldn't be nearly as well-remembered either. But that didn't happen!

Calpurnia's strained smile when Posca reads the line about dutiful wife is a lesson in governance.

This was the best decision an uncle has ever made. The only one that comes close to it is Justin I adopting his nephew, future Justinian

The name was worth way more than the land and gold.

If I ever run out of salt and need some I will just come here and get it from Antony.
