Hand Sewn Early 19th Century Patchwork Pockets || A Historical Sewing Vlog

All people need pockets and although I already own early 19th century reproduction pockets for living history, obviously I needed more! These are patchwork pockets, completely hand sewn using historical techniques.

Also included is a nice long story on why I hate quilting, because, you know, I might still be dealing with some issues with my past quilting experiences. :)

On your end discussion - I would imagine that women were practical. You did what you needed to do because you had so many other things to do!! I'm widening some "slightly small" garments by adding a strip at the side-seam. Not sure if that's period correct, but I suspect is was done a lot!! Thankfully, I don't think my garment had piping. LOL. Enjoyed this! Thanks so much!

I would never have thought to use patchwork for pockets, since they wouldn't be seen, but what a great use of scraps!!!

I admittedly fret over projects way more than I should. I’m slowly getting better about trying to not be a perfectionist. Just make it look good and after make sure it won’t fall apart (working with a lot of fray happy linen).
