I came across your channel through this video—case studies are incredibly valuable, and I'm eager to see more in the future! Building wealth involves establishing routines, like consistently setting aside funds at regular intervals for smart investments.

As a long time expat it made me smile when you said " world class health care " as if the US has the best health care. If you live in Thailand, Mexico, Costa Rica or many other "third world countries" you may be pleasantly surprised with the timely, state of the art, reasonably price health care. That along with reasonably priced local health insurance its no longer a problem. Granted if you have family you want to be near if you are ill then that is something to keep in mind. Thank you for the informative video. I thought a slightly different take on the issue might help those on brink of a major decision.

I feel like Medicare (and the US Gov't) are committing medical extortion on seniors who live abroad and want or need to come back! Why should seniors have to continue to pay for care they don't get when living abroad??? Medicare doesn't cover seniors living abroad so seniors shouldn't have to keep paying and shouldn't be penalized if they need to come back and re-enroll.

One comment you made was wrong. You can still get SSDI while living overseas. As long as it's not in a restricted country.

Thanks for the information! Going to retire in the Philippines and this answers my questions. I think I will take Medicare when I turn 65. Likely I'll DD my SS in a US bank to keep it simple. Just gotta answer that "are you alive" letter!

Would like to see you discuss how one who lives abroad can maintain a low cost supplement or advantage plan?...

I didn’t realize until recently that there even was a penalty. I am living outside the US from before I turned 65 and I turn 67 in November 2024. I believe that I will again live in the US, even if only part-time

I live in MX and the healthcare here is outstanding. Healthcare in the US is ridiculously expensive and not worth what they charge. Save the $$ you would pay to Medicare B for emergencies.

The US Govt taxed its citizens anywhere in the world but they can't provide health insurance anywhere even though it's much affordable outside the US. That's flummery! Their citizens should at least be able to get reimbursed if any for any health-related expenses when they are abroad. Make it happen USA!

World class health care in America for normal people?!!? Really ... If you're wealthy, sure, the US has the best health care, but if you're not ....

You are mistaken. SSDI can be collected overseas and deposited in a foreign bank. The exception are those collecting SSI before the age of 60. SSI retirement, SSI low income, and SSDI have different rules. You can retire on SSDI and Veteran's Disability, both income sources can be deposited overseas.

I understand that with Humana and other supplement plans, emergency care is provided overseas thru medicare, correct?

They don't do as much in the US as elsewhere for Medicare patients.

Is there a cap on how much part b will increase if I don’t take it at 65? Say I live overseas and opt out of B, C, D and all. But in10 years I return to the US and decide to activate Part B - can it be more than100%? What about 11, 12 years would it now be more than double the cost? For example, if at 65 it costs 150.00 for part b, can it cost more than 300.00 (not including whatever rates hikes the government imposes). Also, if I decide at that time to also get the other parts C, D, etc. do they also have a yearly penalty? Thx.
