People are facing a tough retirement. and it's even harder for workers to save due to low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire in.

The problem we have is because Most people always taught that " you only need a good job to become rich " . These billionaires are operating on a whole other playbook that many don't even know exists.

The concept of mini-retirement changed my life. I'm no longer waiting for some retirement paradise when I'm 65. It helps to know how to fund the lifestyle. You know, making money while you sip that piña colada by the beach does help. I wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise.

Personally I have retired for the last 5 years in Guatemala and spend about $1000/month, including rent of $333 for a 2 bedroom house. I think Mexico is also a good option if you only have Social Security. I'm honestly much happier here than in the US, although I miss my grandkids.

To ensure a comfortable retirement, it's advised to save a minimum of 20% of your income in a 401(k). By allocating at least 20% of your income to a 401(k), you increase the likelihood of retiring with sufficient funds. Moreover, this strategy enables you to leverage the stock market's potential and expand your retirement savings as time progresses.

It's worrying that big financial firms could own 40% or more of homes, squeezing out the middle class. Most folks should hold onto their homes if they can. I'm thinking of buying cheap houses in 2024 and maybe trying stocks too. When's the best time for stocks? Some say it's profitable, others say it's risky. Any advice?

Over the last 20 years, I have spent most of that time living abroad. Americans who have NEVER left the United States have no idea what the rest of the world is like. The USA doesn't even rank in the top 10 places to live, The USA doesn't rank in the top 10 safest countries. The USA doesn't rank in the top 10 healthiest countries. MOST citizens around the globe would choose to live anywhere BUT the USA. This world has a lot of nice places to live in. Life goes quickly. Enjoy while you can.

None of these figures even remotely approach "small pension" or social security level income.

My Wife and I think Portugal is our spot. The safety there is A-1, it’s family driven, there’s also great nightlife (at 50 we still live to party…together), and if you have a skill (which we do) you’ll be more than fine if you wanna still work. Not to mention it’s just beautiful there.

You may have missed that Portugal is cancelling the NHR program and all income will be taxed at 25% or more! That includes US Social Security income.

as a greek guy i can pretty much tell you that Greece is your best option... there are amazing places to visit and live in, islands, mountains, beaches, cost of life is much lower than most big cities in the US(on the 1800 mentioned in video you ll be able to live without any concerns )...if you have property in another place, sell it, get a house here and you are golden...
Edit 4/16/24 :i saw somewhere that the state wants to alter the laws of how expensive the property you buy must be in order to get the golden visa... i dont know when this is going to take place and IF they actually do it...but if people are really interested in buying property here, it would be best to hurry...

When planning to retire in another country, one of the things you should consider is if there wouldn’t be any problem communicating with the locals. So consider the language spoken by the people as one of the factors to consider because, whether you like it or not, you will have to mingle with the locals there.
