I'm fully retired from the federal government since 2015, but I can't draw Social Security for another 5 years or more. I'm paying close attention to this because one day I'll be affected by it.

One thing that I do is every couple of months I email the FBU in Mexico City to see if they’re waiting for paperwork; and I call Social Security back in the US and ask them the same thing

Has anyone checked the exchange rate given by their Mexican bank when their USD SS payment is deposited into a peso account? Last time I deposited a $700 USD check into my Bancommer account, I lost about $60 USD on the exchange rate compared to the correct rate that day. If you have e a Mexican bank account and use it to convert dollars into pesos, check this. You may be losing a lot of money in your monthly process.

I guess they noticed many people that are retired early or receiving benefits are living in mexico obviously..so thats why they created that form..
But yeah just dont lie, Fill out the form admit that you do live in mexico etc .
And they wont suspend you..
If they do suspend you for that reason just go back to the US and I think its one month before you can reopen your case again to collect..
Just hope and pray they dont suspend anyone for stupid reasons..

A great reminder, backing up your previous video about this subject a few months ago. I have heard that DHL is a good way to send things anywhere.

Another great informative video. This has not happened to me yet in 20 months here (gracias a Dios) as my address remains in USA and check to a Schwab bank. I stay in contact with S.S. officials for others things. Ernie there is another important issue recently with me, not sure if anyone else. That is taking money out of S.S. check for Medical (Part B). I in June 2023 received a letter from S.S. telling me they were taking fees out for Medical Part B. When I called the S.S. office that represents USA address, they told me yes but I would have to call Medicare. I called Medicare and spoke to several yet end conversation I HAD TO SUBMIT a signed form CMS 1763 Request Termination of Premium Part A or Part B etc. They said that I could FAX S.S. the form yet it had to be signed, option 2 go to S.S. office in person or download pdf file fill out, sign and mail mail to S.S. office representing my USA address. Otherwise they WILL CONTINUE to pay this out of my S.S. benefits. I explained to both S.S. and Medicare (S.S. knew) that I had not lived in USA since 2021 and did not plan to return. They both told me it did not matter I had to formally submit the form CMS 1763. So in end I did as they told me, I sent UPS to insure it got there, then called S.S. office and they did receive and submitted. I do not know if anyone else has had this but this just happen this past month so I can only say "BEWARE"> Thank you for your thoughtfulness in sharing and helping

Another great video! I thought it might be more convenient to have all social security correspondence sent to my US virtual mailbox. When I asked the Mexico City office about it, they confirmed what you said, it needs to go to your MX address. I have been fairly lucky getting mail from SS in 4-6 weeks, but I put a reminder on my calendar to fill out that form and send it in. I love your idea to send a copy in by email as well.

Mine has been suspended. I have filed the proper form 3 weeks ago.
My wife had her suspended earlier this year and it took 3 weeks to get it restored.

Would you happen to know if this applies to someone with dual citizenship in Mexico and the US and if their SSA benefits were earned in the US? I am trying to find out this information for an elderly friend. Thanks.
