Thanks for the vid. I wasn’t sure I had the skill to be able to do this but after watching and trying on my own I developed my own technique and had the hang of it after a few minutes. I have a doctorate in pharmacy but when it comes to home improvement it always seems like rocket science.

The other way to deal with extra wide gap is to change the angle of the caulking gun to where it's (perpendicular) to the wall, or pointing straight at it (and downward, like always). Doesn't require a second pass
