I've smoked enough dope to know that you're gonna be drinking some the leaves

It’s like an inverted tea, instead of containing the leaves into a bag, the leaves are free and the straw filters the water

I had a Uruguayan Spanish teacher bring this in for our class to try in middle school, we each tried it multiple times to get past the bitterness/taste but by the end of the class most of us were a a big fan! I loved it!

It's bitter, not more than coffee. Every brand has their own taste and grades of intensity (Suave presentation is the softest). It also comes in presentations with other herbs and medical purposes. There r version w artificial flavoring too. Organic ones r safe. It mainly divides public choice tween "yerba con palo" or "despalada" (with or without 'sticks' - stems/petioles - : the "yerba con palo" provides a bitter taste while the "despalada" version w only leaves has more powdered leaf which provides long lasting flavor, espumita -foam/froth - like some coffee gets but its con is possible heartburn) Give them a try! I sometimes add chamomile or calendula flowers for calming the mattheine effect, stevia or a little spoon of natural honey for sweetness.

It is so weird for me to find an account entirely about Yerba mate, don't get me wrong... It's cool! Tereré and mate are just the best beverages out there. Greetings from Paraguay! 💖🙏

We evaluated the hepatoprotective effect of mate tea treatment in mice submitted to an HFD. C57BL/6 mice were fed an HFD for 13 weeks with and without mate tea. A separate group of mice was treated with fenofibrate as a positive control (a regular drug for lipid disorders). Histological analyses, glucose tolerance tests (GTT), and quantification of mediators related to lipid peroxidation, oxidative stress and blood biomarkers for lipid profile were performed. The weight of animals and major organs related to hepatic steatosis was determined, and proinflammatory cytokines and the participation of the Nrf2 pathway and adiponectin were evaluated. Mate tea prevented the accumulation of lipid droplets in hepatocytes as well as weight gain in animals submitted to the HFD. Mate tea treatment also prevented increases in the liver weight, heart weight and amount of visceral and subcutaneous white adipose tissue. Mate tea was able to prevent the deregulation of glucose uptake, as evaluated by GTT, and improved the indicators of oxidative stress, such as nitrite levels, catalase activity, and oxidative damage, as evaluated by protein carbonylation and the MDA levels. Mate tea had an anti-inflammatory effect, preventing the increase of IL-1β and KC and upregulating the expression of Nrf2. Mate tea prevented insulin increase and HDL cholesterol decrease but did not affect total cholesterol or triglycerides levels. Treatment also prevented adiponectin increase. Mate tea may be a good resource to reduce hepatic steatosis in the future since it has anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, which prevent the accumulation of fat in the liver.

It’s like no one has seen tea of countless varieties on the Internet. I’m here for the 90s rnb this Mint Condition “pretty brown eyes” it’s one of them records you sometimes still hear at hood bbqs. The Yerba in a glass looks odd but he said it’s for sake of example. I suppose not everyone understands the concept of steeping a herb for example “tea” in water it’s identical to tea steeping or coffee brewing. The Yerba is absorbed by the water that’s refilled throughout the day.

I drink Yerba Mate and there's a filter you can buy which is by the way, very cheap and lasts a long time. It completely blocks out all residue, totally worth it.

I'm from Rio grande do Sul in Brazil
This drink as know as "chimarrão" is really famous here
The best way of drinking it is with family, friends and loved ones
Just take one cup, it's better if you use a cuia (Sorry I don't know the name in English) and you all drink in the same, the one that is drinking have to fill it again and pass to the next
Be sure to make a good amount so the conversation keep going for a long time and you will always remember this good times
Chimarrão isn't about the drink but drinking it with loved ones

My spanish teacher was from Uruguay and he brought this drink. It’s kind of bitter but a popular tea in the country. The straw doesn’t bring any leaves or bits in. He let us all try
