“My hair has seen some rough days” *shows healthy and normal hair*

I do nothing to my hair. No heat, no blowdrying. I sleep on a silk pillow with my hair in a braid, I only use silk hair ties. I don’t wear my hair loose or in tight hairstyles. I use rosemary oil daily on my scalp. I do oil treatment bi-weekly and use deep conditioning treatments once a week. My hair has never been dyed. It still look like shit and is thin. Genetics are everything

Number one thing that influences you having or not having long ass hair: genetics

After all these years experimenting I am 100% convinced that having long healthy hair has alot to do with genetics/genes. Yes its good to care of your hair and there are things that can help but genetics play a "very" "very" big role. Here in Jamaica where I live I know a lot of chinese/Asian women who don't use rice water and I also know a lot of Indian women who don't use coconut oil and they still have very healthy hair almost touching the floor

Unfortunately this is not for everyone. I see you have naturally straight hair and this is the key. It is so easy to take care of. I have medium wavy hair and if I dont do anything with heat it looks messy (hagrid) and simply not done. My hero is the dyson airwrap. Since I use this tool my hair doesnt have any breakage. And I still use conventional curling irons nearly everyday to enhance my natural hair. Just dont leave the strands for 20 sec on the iron, dont let your hair burn and youll see it works.

Also, hard water is a big one. I used to live where there was hard water and when I moved to a humid island with soft water, my hair got wayy better. But that’s by chance, not everyone will have that. Also, clarifying shampoos we’re a game changer for me as someone with fine hair.

I don't do shit to my hair (talking about dying or styling it) i even air-dry it unless i'm in a hurry, i try not to wash it too often even tho i have fine hair so it gets oily quickly so i wash it about twice a week... Guess what, never gonna look even remotely close to something i would be happy with because its to fine/thin...no volume and frizzy 😅 so girls who were blessed with healthy strong hair with volume, i envy you!

girl you have simple straight hair which is super easy to take care of & for other hairtypes it isn’t that easy, doesn’t work😕
I wish people with straight her knew how much time & effort goes into haircare if you have wavy or curly hair, its not the same thing and if you don’t know what your exact hairtype requires the results are often frustrating..once I used the curly hair method & not using silicones my complete hair changed!

Curly hair is so pretty but I really wish people would see the hours of work..detangeling.. tons of leave in conditioners to even being able to brush to your hair.. special hair brushes or expensive hair products just for people to then ask you „just brush your hair“ or „why don’t you brush your hair?“

I think the way you detangle your hair when it’s wet makes a huge difference. NEVER use a brush! Use a comb and start at the bottom of the strands and gently work your way up section by section. By doing this, you are not breaking hair strands into shorter strands because you are not forcing your comb through knots top to bottom. It’s worked for me. I’ve had long hair for most of my life and have been doing this since I was about 13 when I saw the tip in a magazine.

I lost all my good hair from hormonal changes after my second baby girl and it’s taken a while to just appreciate what I do have left!

“My hair has seen some rough days” shows hair I would die for

Side note: detanglimg your hair *very gently* and keeping it detangled is key so you avoid damaging it with your comb sagging on knots. Every strand counts❤

Everyone got different hair types. I don't do anything about my hair but I still deal with frizzy, tangled hair with breakage and dry scalp. I got medium/fine wavy hair. I have tried creams but they don't do much either and I prefer it not being weight down.

I love this advise! some other people don't even point out that its genetics and they promise that you will have gorgeous hair like them.

I agree. I stopped dying my hair 4 years ago, stopped using heat more than a year ago. My hair is almost reaching my butt and it grows like grass. I now need to cut it once every two months because its very big. I once did not cut my hair during 6 months and it also worked. But it was all natural and had not heat damage, that's why I was able to not cut it for so long
