A study by Discovery Digital Networks measured a distinct increase in SEO for YouTube videos with captions, compared to videos without captions. They concluded that Google indexes closed captions uploaded to YouTube videos, which makes them more likely to rank higher in searches for relevant keywords.

The study also found that captioned YouTube videos saw a 13.48% increase in views within the first 14 days they were published. They measured the lifetime benefit of closed captioning videos to be 7.32% more views on YouTube than uncaptioned videos.

Veeery useful, indeed.Moreover, let me advice you might want to use "Transcribe & Auto Sync", especially if you already have written your video (for instance if you have realised your video with something like a teleprompter, thus you already have the complete transcription text): it is a bit more intuitive because you will operate with complete sentences, instead of single parts, and if you already have text the first part is a mere copy&paste.
I use subtitltes A LOT, especially on my main italian channel, who hosts 400+ videos complete with closed captions, and those are also used as a SEO optimisation, because - other than pubblishing videos on youtube - I also pubblish the embedded video, among with its complete transcription, into a blog site. Thus, when you're thinking of a video, for instance, "Ehy he talked about an emergency device and trains, but what was the video?", you just need to search for a couple of words on google and voilà, the entire video will pop up easily 👍

I always add subtitles because I want to be inclusive to deaf/hard of hearing people. And I am actually watching a lot of spanish youtubers who use subtitles too because I am learning Spanish at the moment!

I am trying to auto generate the Closed caption for a video on my youtube page. I am in the classic studio view, and not one single person on youtube and tell me where I can or how to auto generate closed caption. There used to be a way but I do not remember how I did it. Can you tell me please.
